Had a chance to play Squamish Valley on a recent trip to Vancouver. Old growth forests with incredible trees and jaw dropping views of snow capped peaks. Super impressed

Squamish valley is such a fun spot! Good reminder to take a half day off work and head there for an afternoon time

Iā€™m on the island but thought the refuge was shut down! Glad to see it is not.

With the upcoming changes it seems that meetups may be a little easier. Lots of places on the island I havenā€™t played yet.

Yes things are finally starting to look more promising. NLU went to a subscription ā€œNestā€ but some of the Refuge stayed open to the public, and this is one of them, so welcome back.

Hereā€™s to some Island and BC Refuge meet ups soon.

Heading to Victoria in August to play Cordova and both courses at Bear Mountain. Have heard great things about Cordova and am very excited to finally see some new spots on the island.

Looking to round out the trip with either highland pacific, olympic view or arbutus ridge. Presume you have opinions @MarkInVictoria? Iā€™d love to hear them.

I havenā€™t actually played Arbutus. Have heard some mixed reviews and havenā€™t felt the need to try it. Highland and OV are fairly similar, to my mind. Hilly, tight in places, some kinda goofy holes. I probably prefer Highland but thereā€™s not much to choose between them.

Not sure what your plans are but if you want a guide for Cordova or just a fellow Refugee to play with, hit me up.

Hi James. Iā€™d pick HP of the three, with OV a close second. Arbutus isnā€™t great, all holes surrounded by houses.

Well damnā€¦hot enough for you?

Stay safe and hydrated everyone! Looks like Tuesday will be more manageable!

Pretty crazy when our average daytime temperature will be our overnight lows for the next few days.

I got in 9 holes after dinner; course has a good amount of shade that time of night, but when we got out in the sun it was cooking.

I walked 18, teeing off at 7:39 am. After the 10th, you turn away from the breezes off the water and it got really hot. Drank three Gatorades and two bottles of water (minus the water I poured on my head).

With no AC, itā€™s currently 83 in my living room.

Played 18 at my home club yesterday, and for the first time since March 2020, I got to rake a bunker, pull the pin, and wash my ball in a ball washerā€¦and all the signs about not shaking hands etc. were goneā€¦it was a good day!

Was also able to get my second dose of Pfizer on Canada Day, so am very grateful.

Hey BC squad, Iā€™m going to be in the Shuswap area from July 25 - 31. Iā€™m hoping to get out to play Tobiano on one of the week days and wondering if any of you might be in the area and interested in joining? Might greatly depend on forest fire activity as well

Long shot here, but Iā€™ve gone through my rolodex and my buddies seem to have lives outside golf.

Ive got an extra spot for Langara in Vancouver at 3:27 on Saturday July 31 if anyones game to play. Open invite. Im not desperate, I promise.

Iā€™m in, course is right around the corner from me.

Solid. This went down way smoother than I thought it would. Ill dm you the details.

Some goofy holes at Highland is right! Glad I played it and nailing a transmission tower with a floating range ball was an interesting experience. Not in a rush to go back though.

Nearly put the call out as we were 6 at one point, then 5 and finally ended up as four for the trip.

The hype around Cordova Bay is well deserved. We started off at the Ridge which is a dynamite spot to start a trip. The Bay course was so much fun, even in the wind. Open, playable, scorable. Canā€™t wait to go back.

I was really taken with the Valley course at Bear Mountain too. The whole place was charming. The views from the Mountain course were great but I found it oppressive, tight and a bit contrived.

A trip to be repeated but we will likely drop HP in favour of a second go around the Valley course.

Other than the private courses like Gorge, anything we are missing in Victoria golf wise?

Glad that you enjoyed Cordova Bay. Iā€™m very lucky to get to play it every week.

I played the Valley course yesterday for the first time in awhile and I came away liking it more than I used to. A lot of that is because I now have some idea where my driver is going. It makes for a very long day out there if you donā€™t.

There are basically two other 18-hole public options around Victoria. Thereā€™s Olympic View which I am not a huge fan of. A little like HP in that some of the holes just donā€™t make sense. The other option, and one I would recommend, is our Strapped option, Cedar Hill. Itā€™s a muni owned by Saanich and par-67. Also goofy in places, but it comes across more as charming rather than contrived.

Iā€™m coming back home to bc for a few rounds in a few weeks, heading through radium towards Kamloops ultimately. Any course recommendations along the way? Iā€™ve played copper point, salmon arm, and grey wolf before but donā€™t know others. Was looking at revelstoke and salmon arm golf club as a possible? Anyone played revelstoke? Worthwhile? Better option?

Tee times seem to be a challenge at the big hitters so Iā€™m moving to hidden gems next hopefully. I really liked salmon arm gc when I played it a few years back and would be happy to see it again if the conditions are good.

Looking for Saturday Sept 25th, probably doubling up for 36 that day, solo morning round and meeting up with two friends for the afternoon and Kamloops Sunday Monday.

What say you bc folk?
