Hopefully this continues to be a thing as more females get into turf and offer different perspectives. I’m sure Cordova having a female assistant super played a big role in pushing the inclusion effort
With the new travelling restrictions, a meet up will obviously be out of the questions for a bit. Living on Vancouver Island, I am quite happy with the new regulations on travel. Our daily case numbers have been dropping, 26 yesterday, out of just over 1000 for the province, so being isolated on the Island in this instance will be a good thing I am hoping.
Looking forward to a BC Refuge meet up as soon as we can.
@MarkInVictoria I am not aware of any other Islanders on the Refuge; you know of any?
I’m not aware of any others.
Anyone in the Lower Mainland interested in getting a game together in the next couple of weeks? I’ve been playing at Royalwood Golf Course a lot lately (it’s a little on the “Strapped” side of things but is a fun course and you can’t beat $30 early twilight rounds) and It’s pretty decent for getting tee times.
We could do next Saturday (May 15) or a late afternoon slot during the week (or whenever)?
let me know and I can see about setting something up.
Where you thinking?
Was thinking Royalwood but am open to just about anything. Kings Links is great. Sandpiper is a blast. Others?
I’m game for wherever! Royalwoods or Sandpiper is a bit of a drive for me but can stay at my folks to cut it in half. That Saturday works for me too. Definitely interested!
I am definitely down for a morning round on the 15th!
Awesome. That makes three. I’ll book something for the morning on May 15.
Awesome! Excited to get out and play with you both!
Also sandpiper would be awesome! If folks haven’t played there it’s a fun place
if you and @Leflok are up for it - I’ll see about a tee time for Sandpiper and let you know.
Sounds good
I was at Sandpiper last weekend, greens had been punched and lots of temp tee boxes… growing everything out for the summer rush I assume… not the best conditions, but gorgeous as always!
@Daedalus I’m good with anywhere if we’re concerned with conditions at Sandpiper
Shouldn’t be too terrible… I am game for wherever too
My home club, Nanaimo Golf Club, has a very limited Guest policy right now, mainly due to the increased demand on the tee sheet, however, last week they started ID’ing guests to make sure they are from our region due to COVID protocols. Talking to the Head Pro yesterday, he said they have had to turn people away; only allowing guests from Qualicum to Ladysmith as our central Island region. They are offering a pass to them for future use if they were unaware. Any other courses in BC doing this that you have heard of? As a member, I am on board with this.
PS: As someone who works in a high school with 1500 people in the building, we just got bumped up for our vaccination…got my first Pfizer shot yesterday…hopeful an end to all this is near!
I know Highland Pacific is only allowing bookings from the Island Health region. I haven’t heard whether Cordova Bay is doing the same or not.
I’m getting my first shot a week from today. Presumably Pfizer or Moderna.
I saw on Squamish Valley’s website that they may ask for proof of residence. Let’s face it though, the Island has been much more careful than lots of the Province!
Yeah, Victoria Golf Club has been no guests since the end of Summer. Don’t think they are going to allow guests any time soon due to how busy the tee sheet is. We having been allowing 5’s since the fall and still averaging ~4hrs a round with a full sheet.
