Great job by @Sarah representing BC on the Nest Podcast. Just finished listening to it, and really enjoyed it. Nice to have some local flavour. I do think @Randy needs to take a trip up here, as I got the sense he figures we have snow on the ground right now!
Thanks! I think all the NLU boys, and especially @Randy, would have a great time in British Columbia! Should have pitched the western Canada Tourist Sauce! Randy could finish with a sabbatical in Galiano or Salt Spring
@Randy would get deep in the Gulf Island scene; he may disappear for a few years and emerge as a true Shaman
Iām hopeful that Dr. Bonnie is able to ease COVID restrictions come Spring or summer, and we are able to have a BC Refuge meet up. I know @Sarah and @MarkInVictoria were able to arrange something last summer that I had hoped to join, but had some work and family commitments for that. Not sure how many from BC stayed in and joined the Nest, but would be great if we could get 4 or 8 and arrange something. As Sarah pointed out in the Podcast the events in Washington and Oregon will likely be a no go for us this year with the border closure.
Iām eager to join @MarkInVictoria and anyone else who can make it at Cordova Bay again!
Iām back out west in Van at the end of April and will be itching for some golf! Havenāt been to the island yet so golf seems like the perfect excuse to get me out there
Iām kicking about the idea of getting away for a bit (COVID restrictions allowing of course) and was eyeing Victoria perhaps the weekend before May Long. Would anyone be interested in playing some golf? (@MarkInVictoria Cordova Bay??) @Gogolfing - any other courses as well!
I was thinking about this over the weekend.
Come on over (just give me a couple weeks notice so I can get a tee time).
I also need to do the reverse trip at some point in the coming months.
Thatās what I like to hear! Just realized the weekend Iām thinking of is the same weekend as the Olympic Prolific so it might be nice to have something going on at the same time north of the border!
Would that be May15-16? I could probably make that work. I group of us are thinking about going up Island and playing Storey Creek and Crown Isle sometime in May if restrictions are looser, but nothing set yet. Iām hoping this would work out.
yup - thatās what Iām thinking. Strong opposite field vibes to the OP
I would have some interest for sure if it comes together! Checking in with the wifey as well. But very intrigued
What he said, definitely interested just depending on work / COVID rules.
Played Cordova Bay last year on a trip out to the Island last year.
Beautiful, Lush
Walkable
Goat Farm on site (i think itās there)
and an amazingly well groomed putting green.
I havenāt been able to stop talking about it since I played it last summer
Can confirm, goat farm on site.
And, depending on who the starter is that day, possibly Maynard (the 140 pound Leonberger) hanging out at the first tee (@Sarah got to meet Maynard).
I could also be interested if this happensā¦ depending on whatever rules/phase we are in by then
Iām monitoring all western Canada options for golf, have parents on van isle, covid rules dependent but would love to get out and play like mad over a few days somewhere beautiful back home in BC.
The superintendent and his crew have been indulging their favourite pastime recently: building new forward tees.
With fairway play having been off mats all winter and the course closing for four days next week, Cordova should be in mint condition this summer, despite full tee sheets almost every day.
Can they spread this message of evangelism far and wide? Itās embarrassing how much I think about Cordova Bay simply because it was a chance for me to play a course that was actually set up with my game as something other than a complete afterthought!
