Roll Call: Austin/San Antonio

Love this

cool.

Cool… you know what you don’t have covered? Figuring out a way to take the tree off 17 at Kizer. And if you do, lets talk.

Coming to Austin in mid March. If u had 1 course to play out of these 4 what order would u put them in and why? (Rank them in order of your favorite to least favorite if possible)

Kissing Tree
Falconhead
Grey Rock
Star Ranch

We will have 1 day in Austin before heading to Horseshoe Bay for 3 rounds. I’m having trouble deciding which course to play from the ones listed above. Wanting some opinions from those who have played them as to which one or ones are the highest quality?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

This is my first post although I have followed the message boards for some time now.

My personal preference…

Kissing Tree (although a little bit outside of Austin)
Grey Rock
Falconhead
Star Ranch

Many would probably put Falconhead over Grey Rock but I always leave GR thinking it was a really fun time. Falconhead is great too, just a stiffer challenge, so it somewhat depends on what you’re looking for.

Keep in mind that as I rank these, I always look forward to playing Star Ranch so even my #4 isn’t a bad option at all. Star is quite fun to play but I would say the other three are a bit of a notch above.

Almost the same but swap Falconhead and Star. Falconhead is just kind of a beating and it’s ALWAYS slow because they jam up the tee sheet with 8 minute intervals on a course that has no business being sub-10 min gaps. Also, most of the fun/challenge you’ll get from Falconhead, you’ll get plenty of out at HSB

Yup, this. Also some of this depends on where you’re staying when you’re in Austin. I love my city and I love all four of those courses, but none of them are a “destination” track either. Play the one you’re closest to :).

Bad take. Kissing tree better and in better shape than all listed. Except maybe star.

We are staying in south Lamar.

Falconhead is very much on the way to Horseshoe Bay and don’t listen to these guys. It’s definitely one of the best tracks in Austin.

We will be jumping off the plane…. Going to play a round… then coming back to south Lamar and going to Horseshoe bay the next morning.

It’s a low bar when the city owned courses can barely keep grass on their greens

Given this, go to Kissing Tree.

Hey! I’ve played Hancock at least 50 times and I think there was at least one blade of grass on each green.

How is traffic gonna be on a Tuesday afternoon around 1:30ish pm from the airport to Kissing tree? How long will that drive take us approximately? 45 min or more?

I am leaning towards kissing tree I think. I got on the website and there are almost no tee times available online for the next 7 days. Are they that full or do u have to call in to get tee times??? I know we are still a month out from going but just wanted to know if getting tee times there is difficult?

Traffic won’t be much at all. However, if you land at 130, you can’t realistically tee off before 230, and you probably won’t finish.
