Roll Call: Austin/San Antonio

Please report back. Prices are still a bit high for the likely average–> poor conditioning.

Yikes. Hope it’s not as bad as it was a few years back. Was surprised to see that the Wolfdancer “membership” has a waitlist (think the price went up too).

They would be nuts to have it in poor condition, given the interest/activity Austin has around the fall and winter.

I played it in August and got rained out. People who went back a month later said it was noticeably worse.

I played it a few months ago. The greens and fairways were fine/good, but the teeboxes and other landscaping was shitty, like sand/mudpit teebox bad. If they didn’t overseed/punch the greens or whatever for the winter, they may be awful by now.

Some growing chatter for an Austin/San Antonio Roost. Anyone here who’s wanted to #getinvolved in a more direct way, drop me a DM.

If anyone is interested in Wolfdancer at 2pm tomorrow (Wed), should have one more spot. DM me.

New guy here. Live in NM but in SA regularly. Kid went to Trinity so I’ve driven by Brack and the Quarry too many times to count. Shameful to have been in the vicinity of a Tillinghast so many times and not play it yet

Just moved to Temple. Looking for people to play with.

Definitely interested. Anything that’s a good excuse to play more golf in the area.

Sign ups open for South Texas roost - South Texas Refuge Roost - Beef Fajita (from the) Tips - Google Sheets

We’re taking all comers, El Past to Port Arthur, anything south of Waco.

What is event that you speak of?

Not a single event, but rather the recently published model for engaging with the NLU community, and more specifically the NLU mothership. Details here - https://refuge.nolayingup.com/t/2022-refuge-roosts-local-clubs-club-championship-outline/63652 .

I don’t know where our roost stands but Oklahoma’s logo is making everyone else play for second. We need to get at this level.

Looking to plan a bachelor party over Memorial Day weekend. Need help deciding between Austin or San Antonio. Will probably want to play two rounds of golf. I’m also open to staying at a golf resort, such as Barton, La Cantera, TPC, etc, or an air bnb or a hotel.

Appreciate the help

Not a big ballpark like TPC, but also don’t sleep on Tapatio Springs. Owned by George Strait, course is a fun shorter course. They also didn’t have the highest traffic when we went, so we kinda got the run of the place.

Just looked it up, looks awesome and I’ll definitely keep it in mind for the future. But I need something closer to downtown and bars and restaurants.

The Quarry and La Cantera would be good if you do San Antonio. I love Brack but I’m guessing you’re going to want to see a bev cart out there.

Just saw that at 7 EST on Golf Channel that Pat Perez, Harry Higgs, Harold Varner III, and Joel Dahmen are playing the Butler pitch n putt by Barton Springs. Could be interesting, could be trash, but it’ll be fun to watch pros play a pitch n putt that I’ve played countless times

Edit: this is so cringe. It could have been cool but it’s not
