Roll Call: Austin/San Antonio

@Jdonelson you could drive it over the water and have 85 yards in….

Truth! 1 ain’t so bad, 3 &8 stand out… they’re miserable

But 8 is a good hole, at least. You just have to man up and hit a great drive.

Kizer is a great walk #strapped, not really any bad holes out there.
The only downside IMO is the wind can really pick up. The tee sheet is almost always the most booked out of the muni’s

Whiffs of Trinity Forest. 4 might be the best hole in Austin. 17 maybe the worst. What more do you need from a golf course?

4 on Kizer? Do you mind describing what’s great about it?

Excuse me… 5 of Kizer. 4 is the par 3. I was referring to the big dog leg par 4 where you can bite off as much as you want for a shorter second shot in.

I love a 200 yard approach at 7:30am in the morning, my favorite

I agree Kizer is the best muni of the bunch, but 17 is an objectively terrible hole. I don’t know why any aspiring citizens haven’t taken a chainsaw to the trees on the approach in the middle of the night.

Playing UT Golf Club Sunday! Super excited. Anyone know any secrets, or tips for the course. Or clubhouse or anything? Where should I eat lunch before 230 tee time? Be my first time in Austin. Just for the day.

Lol. But is it going to be enjoyable screwing? Lol

not in my opinion. i’m playing there Monday. I never walk away saying I enjoyed my time there.

shocking to me that people pay to play there everyday.

Snarky comments aside, it’s just tricked-up hill country golf that’s gone too far. It’s a FINE line between “hills and mounds and elevation change and fast greens” and “goofy and unfair.” There are some really, really good holes at UTGC - I like 18 a lot, for example, and 13, and 5 is DAMN good. But there are a few that just step WAY over the afore-mentioned line, and it causes the whole experience to suffer. Look to Spanish Oaks or Barton Creek Canyons or even Falconhead as a track that does “big and bold” pretty well without going over the line. UTGC is just … a lot.

15 and 17 can go die in a fire, however. There’s NOTHING redeemable about those holes.

Whats so bad about 15 and 17? Good drive on either hole leaves you not much in to some interesting greens.

Which one is it that you drive over the ravine to a blind fairway? Fuck that one in particular.

Are you sure you are talking about UTGC?

@Jdonelson …….6……it’s 6.

1-4-5-6-7-8………so stupid. 1 & 6 are the stupidest holes on the course. Who carves them in there and thinks they’re good?

every par 3 is hit over a canyon to a green with some bunkers….they’re all the same!!!

10 green needs a massive redo. 11 is decent. 13 and 14 terrible. 15 green……middle to back needs to be blown up. 17 is dumb. 18 decent.

no snark here……it sucks. i’d play MoWilly a thousand times before I picked UTGC.

This.

Plus the over the top UT regalia. I don’t get it.

I wish they’d dial it back a bit. There bones of a good golf course but it’s all just too much for me.

18 is not a good golf hole. Change my mind.
