I play in the Austin Golf Association. Tourneys every two weeks. Usually 30-45 people 4-5 flights. I’m a fan.
Played there a couple of times. Hole 1 is the worst, but a lot of the holes the poa is around the edges. A long way from ideal, but they are rolling really well except for the poa plinko.
Clay was shaggy and crab grassy this weekend, not sure about kizer
I would say yes, you’ll still get a decent amount of league play in the standard 18 weekend events and have access to the Two-Man event series at a variety of different courses. And you’ll get access to the season ending weekend tourney/trip to Horseshoe Bay
Can’t speak to that personally, the schedule only fit for me during the week.
Can anyone tell me if Sweetens Cove is open on Mondays? In Tennessee looking to okay it tomorrow.
New member in Austin and play out of Barton Creek but live close to Mo Willy.
Cheers
Are you a member there?
Anyone find it’s becoming impossible to find tee times unless you book like 7 days out? North Austin/Round Rock courses are completely booked on the weekends now whenever I look mid-week.
I play with a group on Saturday mornings, and we try to get three tee times. This week we had four people calling Kizer/Clay (for either) starting at 7:00:00 on Tuesday. Out of at least 500 dial/fail/hangup/repeat cycles, two guys eventually got through, but the earliest left was 10:40
Forest Creek is one of the few courses that lets you book more than 7 days out. I’ve had good success with that
Yea I just need to get better at being able to schedule things that far in advance. Usually the earliest that I know I can play on a weekend is like Wednesday or Thursday and by that time it’s too late. Ended up calling Star Ranch and was lucky to find two spots at 10:24 for Saturday. Earliest they showed online was 4pm lol.
Personally called lions 135 times tuesday and got lucky to grab a spot at 8:20. Its a terrible system
i’ve literally just given up on trying to call and instead drive down to do it in person, finding it much less painful. grab a coffee, throw on a podcast, drive 20 to Kizer and i’m in and out with whatever time i want by 655.
it’s fantastically moronic
I have done that for Morris Williams, since it’s near the house and very near the trail where I run. Driving down to Kizer/Clay and back would be a 40-50 minute commitment. But it may come to that.
Seems to go in waves in the city. 15-18 years ago when I was in college, it was like this. Had to just hammer the phones to get anything, often driving down was the only way to guarantee something. Then the 2010’s it got way, way easier for some reason. Now the pendulum is swinging back this way. Neat.
For a few years, you could get in pretty reliably by hitting the website button within half a second of 7:00:00am. But then they pushed online access back to 9:00 and it’s pretty useless for peak times.
Is it time to put Rory out to pasture?
What’s up everybody. Just joined The Nest. Moved to San Antonio from NYC end of last year and loving it. I play out of Oak Hills but you can find me at Brack, The Quarry, or the San Pedro Range and Par 3 when I get the itch at 9pm as well.
