Those first few holes were hard to watch. You were mega grinding. But the perseverance was a sight to see when you turned it back on.

Let it be noted for the record that the class and poise shown by @luckin11 in the face of extreme adversity was unprecedented. Anyone else in the field would have surely snapped a club if faced by the same.

Sam is on the 4th hole thinking “how the hell did I get paired with this clown!”

@luckin11 Was quick to point out “No Gimmies” when I said “thats good” to his 1 footer. True Class.

I was texting my brother on holes 4-7 things along the lines of “dude, I am hozeling every other shot what do I do!?” I got a one word response - “Scotch.”

And yes, soliciting advice mid-round via an electronic device is certainly a violation. But things were moving very quickly and I was in a bad, bad place.

Well, the wind showed up after not being predicted and the greens firmed up. It was a day-long GRIND.

But it’s in the books.

Major props to our champion, Jonah. Somehow he scraped out a net +1 performance in the trying conditions in the second round for a commanding 9 shot victory. If he had made anything from 3-6 feet in the morning, we could’ve looked at a Tiger at Pebble situation. He better bring that handicap down next time we play :joy:

Congratulations to @I_have_the_yips and @davidc for earning their NIT invites! See ya in Jax! I thought @Mattyeds was making a move before the final 9 slide…

I birdied 3 on prospector (net ace… no biggie) and thought about googling flights to Jacksonville… +26 33 holes later I’m glad I didn’t.

Some other shoutouts:

Shoutout to @mattr. Had the pleasure of playing with him this morning where he told me that this was his first golf tournament he’s ever played in. Finishing runner-up is quite the accomplishment!

Shoutout to @chico and @L0r00cp for driving up from Oregon!

Shoutout to @rabsie for telling me that he was completely mentally out of it, but he “wasn’t gonna quit” for me… and turned it around to shoot net -1 the last 5 holes!

Shoutout to @inchmarlo for showing me how to truly BULLY a golf course with the bomb and gouge. Nearly driving a 370 yard par 4 and having 150 into the par 5 10th is ridiculous. I could watch you tear the cover off the ball any day.

Shoutout to @luckin11 for going to the deepest parts of shank hell and coming back to shoot 14 strokes better in the second round.

Shoutout to @Szyd and Matt Titus for being relatively new back to the game and grinding all 36 out. Thanks for the pictures above @Szyd! @davidc, Matt Titus told me he was interested in #gettinginvolved on the 'Fuge. Would love to get some more games in with him.

As others have said, shoutout to @richardlhawkes for walking all 36. You are a mad man in the best of ways!

Thank you so much for everyone that signed up. You all grinded it out and are grinding today with the soreness, too. Give yourself a pat on the back, but not too hard to hurt. :joy:

I hope to see you all at the next meetup. It’ll be more fun and laid-back. I promise. Or maybe I’ll see ya at the big destination meetup with some Refugees flying in from across the country? This isn’t finalized, but it’s something to think about.

Cheers!

P.S. If you want to find the leaderboard/the hole-by-hole scores from both rounds to post to your handicap (if it doesn’t do it automatically? :man_shrugging:), the code in Golf Genius is PNWRACDG

Ugh. Thanks for reminding me that I was T2 on the tee of hole 32 and then proceded to have my own personal Icarito and net double the next 4 holes to fly directly into the sun and finish T9…

I didn’t want to look at that scorecard again.

@davidc can attest - I was controlling my golf ball IN the wind. Shoutout to the back 9 at Rope Rider for reminding me that golf is still stupid hard when the wind dies.

And another shoutout to @Geaugolf for the headcover trophy!

How soon can these scores be removed from the internet?

Whoever wins the Home Course Member/Guest between you, @inchmarlo, @rabsie, and @davidc can get their scores scrubbed

Look, I may have seen some serious golf shots.

Watching Jonah bomb driver everywhere on Rope Rider in the wind was a sight to behold.

“Oh, 30 mph in your face wind? Lets just bomb it through!”

The legs are certainly feeling it today, and probably tomorrow too.

I did get some help between a few holes that are miles apart, but now I’m thinking it was all part of @luckin11’s gamesmanship to win our match.
