There are so many course both private and public. i think you’ll find a number of affordable private clubs that will suit your lifestyle. Just make sure that they are apart of GAP (Golf Association of Philadelphia) which most are. The beginning of the golf season there’s 3 inter-club matches that all clubs play. it’s a great way to meet new people and play some great course both private and public. you’ll often get invites from the guys you play against to come back and play there clubs and vice versa.
agree on all this, GAP matches have been a great experience
Signed up for GAP matches this year out in Lancaster. Excited!
Coming back to this thread after a deep-dive into it. The pitch n putt/course/mini-golf/driving range center that was on Germantown Pike was Woody’s (now an Albert Einstein Medical Center). Spent so much time there as a kid. Memories.
I’m new to the refuge and stumbled upon this thread. I live in Philly and typically play out at Glen Mills. I like the course overall - especially compared to some of the nonsense I’ve played in South Jersey, with all do respect to Ron Jaworski and his empire of overpriced offensive munis - but I whole heartedly co-sign your take about some holes being stinkers and penalizing good shots. #11 is quite possibly the worst/most frustrating golf hole I’ve ever played in my life. You can lose your ball if it’s 2 yards off of the fairway. Considering the fairway is like 15 yards wide, it isn’t saying much. #17 is one of the harder par 5’s I’ve ever played as well…it is extremely narrow with trouble on both sides and a forced carry. Lots of fun holes and these are just nit-picks/based on my personal preferences…i’m not an architecture expert by any means
If you would like to join the RACDG Liberty Bell Chapter let me know and you can get involved!
Can I get added-in? I grew up in Philly (thus the creative name) and my folks still live in Montgomery County, so would be interested to have meet-up opportunities.
Sure thing DM me you info and we will get you set up
im interested if there’s room…?
There is plenty of room DM me your information and we will get you set up
Not sure if anyone else has been to the Five Iron that opened in Center City yet, but it’s a great way to scratch the itch when winter is bucking its head.
High quality sims, lots of courses to play, quality clubs to use if you don’t bring your own, good food and lots of TVs.
Leagues start in a couple weeks.
I haven’t been yet, but I’d love to go sometime if there was a group meetup.
New to the Refuge and the Philly area. I will be moving up there at the beginning of April to caddy in the area before shipping off to grad school in the UK. Would love to meet up and play some golf with anyone who would like. I am a recovering club pro so just looking for some fun games at any and all types of courses!
Excellent. Where will you be caddying and where might you be living?
Heading to Swing Bensalem tonight. Highly recommend it as an indoor sim place. Not expensive, good equipment, new, and usually not crowded.
Ill be living near Quakertown. Will be caddy at either Cricket, Aronimink or Merion.
Hey there - new to the refuge, as well. I’m in Philly, but in Fishtown, which is on the golf desert side of the side of the city and always looking for a group to get out with. Very interested in joining, if there are still openings!
Sure is, happy to have you when you have a moment DM me and I’ll get you added to our chats
