Philadelphia

Depends how adventurous you are with food but Vista Peru in the old city is fantastic. Right by the corner of 2nd and Market. The anti-cuchos and the octopus is absolutely to die for and you can’t miss out on the pisco sour. Lived in this city my whole life and it is easily in my top 3 restaurants.

Need my hitters still on the ground in the area to fill me in. Word on the street is Makefield Highlands is putting in a bunch of trees? Will be very disappointed if this is true. Ruining the vista of most of the front 9 you get driving in, not to mention the numerous other drawbacks, would certainly be a decision.

Paging @Tibbs for this one…he’s certainly the subject matter expert! That said, he’s on a pilgrimage to Augusta, so may be hit or miss with getting a reply as he travels to the Holy Land.

Would have to assume this is Mr. Player’s doing right?

I don’t know if @Tibbs will want to talk to me. My brother took him out behind the barn at Rum Point in a match.

Yes they put in a bunch of really tiny trees that don’t really affect play. What I heard from Ed was that the township had a bunch of leftover trees from a project and they kinda just dumped them onto makefield to do something with… and I’m gonna get Cole next time

up in the area for work found myself with a morning free tomorrow any recs for a morning round in the Plymouth Meeting area?

Jeffersonville

I’ve played there a few times love it was just checking to see if anything else worth seeing

if you haven’t been there in a while i would go there, they redid pretty much the entire thing. Looks great. Club house is amazing. But depending on how far you want to go these are gonna be 45ish minutes away; Glen Mills, Turtle Creek, Kimberton and Paxon Hollow. Unfortunately everything right near PM is private

As cold as it’s going to be I might look into Fairways and Dreams, the indoor simulator spot in Conshy.

I have a spot at The Golfers Journal event at Jeffersonville for Friday May 3, and unfortunately work has conspired against me. DM me if you are interested. I think you need to be a TGJ subscriber.

Update on Cobbs. A lot of “feel good” Rah-rah stuff in the video, but also interesting to me that the guys involved all get a chance to say that the city government and other commissions and agencies involved continue to be a pain in the ass.

Cmon with it

Ok fellas, going to be in Philly for two days coming up. I have the dumb tourist question of where to get the best Cheesesteak and pizza in town?

Best pizza is between Angelo’s and Dough Head. The ordering system at Angelo’s is wildly frustrating and the food usually takes a while, but the steaks there are one of the best in the city, too. You can actually order Dough Head through their site and get it in about 25 minutes almost any day.

I’m throwing Pizzeria Beddia into this pizza conversation as well.

Fiancée and I are moving to south Philly this fall. Couple of questions to hopefully make the golf transition smoother.

  • Does the roost have a different platform for communicating and sharing tee times? DMV roost is active on WhatsApp but I know every group is a little different.
  • Any tips on fun public tracks that are relatively accessible to the city?
  • Escaping the DMV area has me cautiously optimistic there could be more private clubs that aren’t just a total pipe dreams. I’ve heard good things about Bala but any others in PA or NJ that are not going to cost as much as home down payment and are focused on the right things (i.e., fast, accessible golf)? Even if it’s semi-private type places with preferred tee time slots, not a C-suite guy.

Appreciate the insights!
