I know a guy at Spring Haven and I’d imagine that’s lower, but if you want me to find out the situation, I can.

The numbers I quoted are for topped out age category as well. If you’re a younger guy the initiation could be significantly less, as well as the dues.

I needed two letters and five additional references for my club, RG might take themselves a little less seriously, but you’re probably going to need someone on the inside of anywhere you actually want to join. I’m sure this group could help you find a person or two if you want to explore it. Again, I wouldn’t be surprised if RG was backed up a few years.

That’s super helpful. Thanks!

Two of my good buddies are members there and I’ve been over a few times. Very laid back group, awesome layout and cool bar/food set ups.
If you need an intro to them I’d be happy to give you their contact info if you had other questions.

Cross posting this to get some exposure:

Going to see if I can pull a foursome together.

I didn’t even make the connection when I first saw this - same day as our Roost Major.

Cool update/summary on the Cobbs Creek Golf Campus set to open in 2026 - really can’t wait to see this one when it is all said and done. Anyone coming to Philly for World Cup games in 2026 let’s set something up with ‘Electric Factory’ to have an event here!

Hi all, just finding this community ! Been golfing in the area for a long time but now trying to get out a bit more. Anyone else feel like local public courses are insane?! Not only do I feel like I have to book a tee time a week out, but just paid north of $70 for Pinecrest which felt like a dog track. Really makes you think going private is the way to go, but I’m sure waitlists and fees are through the roof also.

If you think that $70 a round is expensive, do not add up what you pay per round at a private club. There is zero financial upside to joining a club unless you are playing over 200 rounds a year.

Oh sorry didn’t mean $70 is expensive for golf round on even a remotely decent and kept course. For comparison it would be like paying that much for a walnut lane equivalent. Typically takes 5hrs now too on a weekend.

Ah, that makes more sense. Yeah, the upside of private golf is the speed of the rounds. We played a fivesome in 3:45 recently. I think it’s entirely about the club that you’re trying to join. My club has a long waiting list (but has made accommodations to allow for play while you’re on the list) but others nearby (North Hills, for example) that are actively on soliciting members.

Yeah, Pinecrest is not great, at all. Similar price for somewhere close by is Makefield Highlands which is a MUCH better course. Obviously the creme de la creme is Jeffersonville, but not quite in the same geographical area.

I love Jeffersonville but I feel like this year it’s been so much harder to get a decent tee time. I work about 10 min from there and pass it daily. Played it on the 3rd at 2:40, took 4:45 for 18…. New club house is gorgeous though!

I’ll have to take a look at makefield. Don’t think I’ve played that one before. Lederach has been nice to get out on recently, they manage their tee sheet amazingly

I like Paxon Hollow, it looks like they are around that $70 price point on weekends. Have not played in a few years though, so not sure what condition it is in currently.

Damn it’s never taken me more then 4 hours to play J’ville. Maybe I have just gotten lucky.

Paxon’s in fantastic shape, undergoing renovations on the first 3 holes that currently doesn’t impede play. And some other tree removal has it looking so so good.

Hey Philly refugees, I will be in your city on 8/10 with a full day to kill. Looking to play 36 holes somewhere and would love to play with some locals if you’ll be out there!

Any course recs? Jeffersonville is always an option and may look into some thousand greens options (or a gracious refugee host that would be willing ot have me and one buddy out with them).

I understand a lot of the planning happens in roost chats these days, so DM me if you want to play!

I have a 7:57 on Saturday at Bella Vista, and I’m looking for a second. Who wants in?

Is it normal for Jeffersonville to have zero public tee times available 10 minutes into the booking window of the day you want to play???

It depends on the day you are trying to book but if its a weekend/holiday then it typically sells out right away. There could also be some sort of event on the course that day in which case they won’t put the tee times up. Which day are you trying to book?
