Hah I always appreciate “there are levels to this shit” moments.
Scraping out 79’s in the practice round for that qualifier and the Almost Qualifier at Springfield helped me realize while I can hit some pretty fun shots, I am far from truly good at this game hah
PS: I’m very game to run back caddying this year, especially if it involves another fun practice round with @pvonluehrte !

Perfect. We will do one entrance fee for both I think then which will hopefully generate enough money to grab a second trophy that we can get @flanwilder tp engrave with a new logo specifically for the four ball.

As the highest cap in our group I believe, I’ve only won a single match in the two seasons we’ve run this tournament. The match I won was literally the best round I played that year and I didn’t lose a single golf ball the whole match. I can certainly understand low caps not liking giving up two pops on a hole but that’s usually the toughest hole or holes on the course and as a high capper that never usually helps me win the hole against a low caped guy it’s only ever helped me tie them on those holes to not lose one to them. I mean there’s always a chance but it’s a lot easier for me to fuck up and not have a good day than it is for the single digit guys to completely shit the bed bad enough to loose to me.

Four ball would be sick but ima sit that out this year. Scheduling 1:1 matches is hard enough. But a legit great idea nonetheless.
While we’re throwing out ideas for new formats, how bout a senior bracket? I’ll be 45 in a couple weeks and while people of all genders, ages and abilities generally blow it past me, competing with some fellow olds could be fun.
I’m off to google what those other formats are from Mr. Conley’s post.

If I’m reading it right greensomes is the same as the Scotch foursomes format we played at the event and Split Rock. Definitely fun. Would recommend.

The only good thing about 4-man scrambles is they’re usually for a good cause and many have free booze. Miss me 100% with all golf related aspects. For some reason a 2-man scramble sounds less terrible.
There’s some strategy and planning involved, you still have pressure shots, but it’s also a little more casual and laid back than alt shot or best ball.

I’ve added a Fourball Matchplay signup sheet to the file linked in post 2541.
If you want to play both singles AND fourball you can play both for the $20 sign up. If you want to play just singles or just fourball, the signup is still $20. Adding Fourball this year kind of on the seat of our pants is both exciting and scary. I definitely want to make sure we have sign up funds to secure a second trophy for the winners of the Fourball bracket and hopefully have some money left for greens fees for all finalists and charity when it’s all said and done.
You can sign up for Fourball either as a single or as a team. Just add your name to the list if you’re a single and maybe another (hot single) in your area will hop in with you to make a team.

We’ve reached the part of the year where there is only 1 football game left, and I begin to furiously refresh the OATW threads and pretend that spring is right around the corner. I rush to sign up for any events I can, and meticulously enter all relevant info in my calendar. And then I realize we are at best still like (maybe) 6-8 weeks from actual, not freezing my soft little hands off outdoor golf. I can’t fucking wait to do the stuff and see you people!

Yeah I don’t know what it is but today I just got the itch to get the season going, and it’s not even close. I don’t get my hopes up until mid April, and anything before that is a bonus. Luckily I was able to get some rounds in over a Christmas trip to the in laws in California.

Reminding everyone that signups are still live. The fourball signup is extremely light right now so we may just scrap that bracket or try to do a round robin situation there to determine a winner.
I do have a potential host for our 2025 Final, but they wanted to give others a shot before we confirmed so I’m going to call this as last call for anyone who would like to host this year. Do we really have no one in Cincinnati that would host?
We’ve done: Dayton, Cleveland, Columbus, in that order so far.
I am sure we can host at Losantiville if we want a Cincy course.
