NLU Ladies

Season is off great! Made a commitment to myself to play 9 after work on weekdays if I can off at 5pm. I played Presidio Monday and Golden Gate today and it was fantastic. I hope Ont opens up soon! I imagine golf season there is slightly shorter than California so every day counts.

My season’s been a bit slow to start. Work and life in general has been busy lately. YOTB turned into Year of the Baby for me…due in early October. Getting out to play here and there and going to try and play as long as I can this summer both for the mental and physical exercise. I played the most rounds I’ve ever played in 2020. I definitely won’t break that record, but going to try and not get too rusty this year.

T’s and P’s for me and my search for maternity friendly golf clothes.

Congrats @madkins so exciting! My friend just had a baby and we played pretty much until 8 months. She played very well and said the belly gave her a lower center of gravity. By month 6/7 she was wearing her hubby’s golf shirts.

One of my girlfriends was lights out well into her pregnancy- definitely centred her swing

I just got her a 6i too. We started with a hand-me-down strange beginner set of all hollow back type hybridish clubs, really weird, and she had been using my steel shafted vokeys, not ideal.

Now she has a new Wilson driver which she loves, and A wedge, 8i, 6i, and hybrid used with L flex, which is much better.

Thanks all!!! I tend to swing out of my shoes, so tempo and balance should improve just a bit.

Hey y’all! I had no idea this thread existed and am so happy I’ve found it.

Lady from Austin, TX here. I am a semi-new Nester, but just saying hello. My golf season got off to a real shitty start my messing up my left forearm/elbow pretty bad. PT throughout the spring, fully healed just in time for the rainy season in TX. Stoked to be picking up some new irons next week after a Club Champ fitting though.

Anyway, nice to be here.

Welcome! Glad to have you here. Enjoy your new clubs!

Always have a good time when we are in Austin, just haven’t ever had time on our trips to fit in golf. Saw you work in music industry - that’s why we are usually in Austin (sxsw or acl usually) - my husband is music industry too (I got out of radio a while ago). Never had the chance to take our clubs out with us on previous trips - not making that mistake again

Welcome!!!

Nice! I work for ACL Live, the music venue, which people often confuse with the festival. But yes, until about five years ago, you couldn’t throw a drumstick without hitting someone connected to the music industry, as such.

Golf-wise, not missing too terribly much, sadly! But we have our gems.

Ahhh I am very familiar with ACL the venue. Saw Run the Jewels there while they taped their Austin City Limits PBS appearance a few years back. (And remember the old venue too from watching lots of Jimmie dale gilmore and Lyle Lovett with my mom on PBS)

I have only been once to the new stage (Mellencamp). I was able to catch one ACL taping at the old place on campus. That was intimate, to say the least.

Pine valley finally going to start letting women be members (and allowing women to play as guests at ALL times - not just Sunday afternoons)

Should start by inviting the NLU ladies crew

Yes! I was at the RTJ taping too. What a great group.

I interned for the show in college and got to see some great tapings at the old studio. Etta James, John Prine, Alison Krause. The show is a gem.

Hey gals!

Just had a thought while I was playing with The Grint app which a couple of you are already on. There is a Tour feature where we can play in events to compete. Would anyone be interested in a Refuge Ladies Night League?
Could be 9 or 18 holes, using net scores to keep a level playing field. Would make it keep it flexible so you play any day that works for you that week. Would just be an another excuse to get out and play around with a little friendly competition between the queens of the 'Fuge.

Let me know and I will set it up!
