I have a rather corny suggestion. In the spirit of the Thanksgiving season, what if we got a theme going of songs you are thankful for? Note: Not songs about being thankful (although that’s certainly allowed) but rather songs that you, personally, are thankful for. Perhaps it’s because of a special memory that the song evokes. Maybe the song just slaps. Feel free to share, or not share your reasons.
Big Thief has been putting out a few singles in prep for their double feature coming in February, this song, Change, has been on repeat for me since it came out:
If you like U2 and/or Matt Nathanson, Matt released “Achtung Matty” last night. His new album is covers of the songs off of Achtung Baby to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the album release. I haven’t listened to everything yet - but it’s pretty decent so far.
Not sure if this has already been thrown out but after lurking this thread for a while I can confidently say this band would appeal to quite a few on here… this live set is next level production too. NLU and Hate5Six are the two best creator on YT, hands down.
Was at a local pizza spot this weekend with the family and this little number came on. Never heard of them before, but love how all I have to do is ask my phone what song is playing and it’ll tell me.
Starting to listen to more of their catalog, seems like a pretty standard indie pop sound (which I don’t say as a bad thing because I love it).
I was prepared to enter a thread after hearing the first few songs of Adele’s 30 with some hot takes. I wasn’t a fan of those songs and wasn’t feeling the spoken word stuff
…but then…
she let it rip (save for one song in the back half) and I feel bad for ever doubting her. She’s so damn incredible.
As a guy that used to play the trombone (i guess i probably still could), this dude has some wild chops to sound that way in that octave playing that loud with everyone just hyped. What energy. So sick.
(P.S. - shout out the algorithms for flipping this my way)
