Further Seems Forever, “New Year’s Project”, was always a go to!

“LGFAD” by Motion City Soundtrack was the anthem to my senior ski trip lol

Way off topic also and am new to NLU but been watching Tourist Sauce Oregon and in episode 11, first at Silvies Ranch the music is amazing - 60s Brit invasion / psychedelic type stuff - tried using Shazam to find artist but no result so was wondering if it’s created in house or how do I find out artist as keen to hear more - anyone know?

Welcome to the refuge!

I don’t remember what it was exactly but there was lots of TS Soundtrack talk over in the Oregon TS thread earlier:

Tourist sauce in my home country of Scotland was fantastic viewing but glad to say some great music originates from here as well from 70s glam rock to folk to punk to grunge to more modern day bands also

Also this

Just watched the HBO Max documentary on Woodstock 99. Very well done, I thought, though I do think it treads a little close to the same “Marilyn Manson was at fault for Columbine” rhetoric I don’t like much.

Obviously, it was a disastrous festival and a lot of awful shit happened there. All in all, you couldn’t pay me to be in that crowd in that heat.

That being said, at the same time…there are some crowd videos that just look completely insane. The crowd and the pits when the guitar kicks in for Blind by Korn is one of the sickest things I’ve ever seen.

This video helped me go from wanting to be in a metal band, playing 10,000 mph, and hating everyone to wanting to be in a hardcore band, playing 10,000 mph, and hating everyone. For that, I am grateful.

I wish I was at this show! I saw Shai Hulud live one time about 5 years ago, I was so stoked to see them but it was such an under attended show that it was painfully awkward. Maybe 15 people tops in a venue that holds about 200-250. They were the headliner, they played 45 mins and left everything on the stage. Oddly enough, they are playing near me again back to back nights as main support for With Honor doing a reunion show, I slept on getting tickets and both shows sold out as soon as Shai Hulud was announced as support…almost as bad as when I thought I could get tickets to Have Heart’s reunion shows in Worcester and both sold out

Oh man, I’ve seen Hulud like 10 times. Which is pretty good for a dude in the middle of nowhere. At one time I even considered Matt Fox to be a friend, but I haven’t seen him or them in years.

An obvious highlight was back before Misanthropy Pure came out, we caught them in Winnipeg. Fox and I sat in the back and listened to demos for the record and I was a billion percent in on Venomspreader. That song still shreds.

*additional story from this show: we hung out with the band quite a bit that night. I was up front screaming along for a huge majority of it. I can’t remember what song they played, but I took off in the circle pit and I got rocked in the face. Spent the rest of the show with a busted lip bleeding all over. Their singer at the time apologized for not giving me the mic again. Hahahahaha.

I was supposed to catch Have Heart in Winnipeg with Comeback Kid, I believe on their farewell tour, but my wife’s husband at the time almost died the day before and we had to bail. Still breaks my heart.

Old people file in. I’ve thought a lot recently about post 30 music habits. I’ve read that basically at 33 or whatever age you abandon discovering new music. I’m still finding new music but I can’t say albums resonate with me like they used to. I’d like to know how other olds feels about their newer artist discoveries. Golden Hour is certainly the album over the past 5 years that I loved the day it came out and it’s morphed in ways which I love it differently since then. What is that album for you.
