Criminally underrated Petty tune. This version with the extra verse is particularly good
Definitely not enough Streets of Fire

Nor enough Eddie and the Cruisers. How cool was Michael Paré? He was in BOTH of these!

I’ll put any of those into a “best movie soundtrack” bracket as well. Just try me.
From last night’s Juno awards (Canada’s Grammys), Feist (on vocals) and the Tragically Hip doing the Hip’s “It’s a Good Life if you don’t Weaken”.
This fucking rips
Before I listen, It’s not the oh so annoying trash can snare is it?
I would assume this dude tuned his snare a bit to match Lars’, but it’s much, much less egregious.
I’m not following this thread anymore. But always down for Coolio.
I knew you would be
keeping with the covers, and this may have been mentioned above.
Sublime helped me find a favorite.

EDIT : the cover in question
You could probably put every song on Garage Inc. by Metallica as far as “songs you found because of a cover” unless you were really into early thrash or NWOBHM.
But I’ve always liked

technically, I knew the Queen song first, but Metallica brought it back to the forefront.
But ok, let’s play fair.
This may be blasphemous to some (many?) Sublime also introduced me to the Dead with Scarlet Begonias with their cover that’s actually better than the original.
I think a best music cover bracket will need to be done in the future. I always keep coming back to music. I can’t help myself haha
The entire special is incredibly well done and a grounding experience.
I just need to carve out the time. I can’t believe how good that song is. It’s like a fucking 1940’s Disney villains song and I mean that in the absolute best way possible.
