Music Suggestions 2 - driving fast in my car

Not to disrespect Santana. The man is talented, but I would stand with you on Jimi island

The reason this debate started is because i always ask who sings whatever song comes on when I’m DJing Spotify. And she said All along the watchtower was Santana after my hint of greatest guitarist ever.

Wait until she finds out it someone else entirely wrote it…

Wait until someone says they first heard the song on Battlestar Galactica

This doesn’t go with any theme.

I first heard this song the summer before my freshman year of HS. I still enjoy listening to it from time to time.

Good tune. Had the record, but never got into them much other than a tune or two.

Speaking of bands like that, from this era, that I only liked one song from:

What an intro!

I feel like there’s a good chunk of music from that era and similar genre where there was one song on a mixed CD or label sample I loved but never got into much else.

This song to me is a huge example of that

I think a lot of it has to do with how much music there was and how many people I knew who were into music. Like everyone had a new song or band for me to check out daily. Hahaha. I’d generally hear a song and dig it and move on.

So many damn bands that I liked enough, but not enough to keep digging. Hahaha.

Can’t forget the music video full of aerial moves during the breakdown. Saw them in '05, what a time to be alive

That Bleeding Through track is definitely the lone stand out in their catalog. The After Dinner Payback still rips today and the album before it Too Bad You’re Beautiful still finds it’s way into my rota every now and again. I never really got into this band but back in the day I’d play this one song a lot, still pretty good but doesn’t make me want to do a deep dive or even find out if they still exist

The whole Cover Your Tracks album is solid AF

I used to know their old drummer from Friendster. Good dude and said it was a fun band to be in. Ended up touring with BTBAM afterwards and said all they did was practice and it for boring, and went straight back to BYD.

Cover your tracks is AWESOME.

I will temporarily interrupt the Hardcore/Metal/adjacent genre vibes to post this one because it’s going to get knocked out of a bracket today and SLAPS.

Was thinking of this song this morning, not related to any theme. Though I suppose ā€œSongs that were popular/you remember because the lyrics would shock your parentsā€ could be a theme.

I remember going through my aunt’s record collection when I was a kid, maybe 7-8 years old, and finding this

I knew right then and there that this was going to be my band.
