Have never listened to these guys but I dig them a lot at first blush. Hot Water Music mixed with… Social Distortion? Plus some heft.

They are good stuff. Vocalist was previously in a band called Self Defense Family (previously known as End of an Era) that was pretty widely known in hardcore/punk circles. Drug Church seems like it takes all the really good elements from that. I hear a lot of Deftones in it as well.
Cheer was their first LP and is a great listen/introduction. It’s just a super catchy heavy sound.

No one bit on my attempt to mint the term slacker twang. So here’s another try. Song from seven years ago, so ancient, but newish to me…
This will not be for everyone, but I just saw Sunny Day Real Estate play last night, and I can’t get over how good they sounded. They played Diary front to back, then a few other songs as an encore. SO tight, so furious, it was way better than I’d even hoped. Diary is a seminal album and super influential, but it’s just a banger from start to finish and was so great to see. If they come by your area, see them. Just do it.
And yeah, they’re old now (the bassist is new, and young) but they fucking SLAP
