Music Suggestions 2 - driving fast in my car

The only Anthrax song I like without Belladonna on the vocals. (Aside from I’m The Man, which I think he might have sang the chorus on)

My Saturday went:
Daisy Grenade
Neck Deep
Dashboard
Four Year Strong
The Wonder Years
Motion City (this was the standout for me. They were really good live and I didn’t realize how awesome ‘Commit This to Memory’ played in full would be)
Jimmy
ADTR
Mom Jeans
FOB
MCR

Happy birthday to Pearl Jam, 34 years old today.

I was at their 10th anniversary show in Las Vegas, somehow 24 years ago, part of a whirlwind 3 shows in 3 nights in 3 states adventure I did when I was in college. I was in school in Tucson (and originally from Colorado) so I was quite used to the drive between Tucson, Phoenix, and Albuquerque. They had a show in ABQ Friday and Phoenix on Saturday so I got tickets for those shows. I didn’t even think about Vegas on Sunday because I wasn’t even 21 so Vegas didn’t really hold a particular appeal and, of course, I was pretending at the idea that I was going to be a good student and be back in school Monday. But when I learned the Vegas show was their tenth anniversary show, I couldn’t say no.

The total ticket price for all three nights combined was under $90. I had a class Friday morning, then drove to Albuquerque and went to the show alone. After the show I drove to Flagstaff (about 4.5 hours) and stayed with my girlfriend. We went to the Phoenix show together Saturday night, stayed together again in Flagstaff Saturday night. Then I drove to Vegas (in the days before the bridge it was about 4.5 hours during the day), went to the show, then drove back after the show (shorter at night because the road over the damn wasn’t as busy), stayed in Flagstaff again, and drove back to Tucson Monday.

Almost 25 years later I about want to die imagining that much driving, all for roughly 6 hours total concert time, but damn if it wasn’t memorable. Besides I was 20 and didn’t sleep much anyway and I figured it was a miracle that this band had somehow survived 10 years, I better see them while I had the chance. It wasn’t like they were still going to be around in 2024, right?

Been playing this album on repeat since you posted it, had never heard of almost monday. This album (and their prior stuff) absolutely slaps. They’re coming to phoenix in February, stoked to see them live

They are also coming to Ferndale in February. Tickets aren’t too expensive.

Maybe I’ll try and convince my wife™ to go with me.

Give A Monkey a Brain was one of my all time fav albums back “in the day” as the kids say.

The Red Clay Strays. Sound like Skynyrd, Nathaniel Ratliff, and Drive-By Truckers were put into a blender.
