Inaugural Old Fashioned: Irish Coffee edition - Tee times and Pairings post 215

Been sitting on my couch all morning sipping some irish coffee and going over the yardage book and rehashing the day. It was one of my favorite rounds of golf I’ve played - what a cool place, I had a blast with my group, and the weather quite honestly couldn’t have been better for an ~irish vibe~.

A super memorable round and it was so well organized! Big thanks to you and @Ultra-Kiger, I can’t wait for next year!

For anyone who didn’t stick around later at 3 Sheeps, please weigh in. There was a thought we should try and keep teams as similar as possible for next year to build rivalries and comradery going forward. Thoughts on keeping teams the same or offering the same spots to the same people, and whoever says no I either won’t play or want a new team that’s where we offer those slots to new people? Wanna respect the OGs from this year but also build this going forward

I think that idea is awesome. Maybe open spots a week early to the originals, and then if we can’t commit then open those spots up?

Big big thanks to @Ultra-Kiger and @Amholzman24. What started as @Amholzman24 and I bullshitting in June about an end of season Wisconsin Roost (still pending) event in Kohler blossoming into Friday was awesome. I know it’s going to get even better and bigger next year when we get the original championship routing.

Playing in Roost events is some of the most fun I had playing golf this year. Thank you all for being normal, reasonably well adjusted humans that are a blast on the golf course. Looking forward to having our own seat the table next year.

The highest of highs from Friday and this season have been quickly replaced with the cold reality that we’re moving into the dark months. Take care of each other and hopefully I’ll see some of you in a sim this winter.

If we are going to apply sacrosanctness to these teams, then free agency and trading should also be incorporated.

Edit: if college style scoring will still be used, then also incorporate a transfer portal.

Yes, this. Give the team captains the right to trade players and pick up players from the waiver wire should a player drop out.

I had a true laughing moment when you reminded me we were bullshiting about doing this on the straits and then oh hey…here it is.

Big thanks to everyone who helped put this together. @Amholzman24 @Ultra-Kiger Friday was a great experience. Going to be a long winter now with just the sim but it makes me pumped for what will surely be an awesome 2024 for the Wisconsin group.

Speaking of which… if anyone wants to drive a bit further north in a month:

Nothing decided yet to be clear just brainstorming

New players must be drafted by one of the captains. If a captain misses a year his captaincy is voided. Replaced by low net returner.

Can trade draft picks.

Fuck it - full fantasy football but it’s the old fashioned.
Let’s encourage wagering amongst teams

Tank for Collin if he’s gonna play that well

If we did this though it would likely though be a situation like:

If you played last year you would get an early chance to sign up next year
If you want to stay on the same team you could
If you want to switch teams…those details TBD just depends how weird we wanna get

I hate to say it, but I think roost/nest members need to get first dibs.
