Is it being reachable in two.
Same. Staring down that second shot into that elevated green with nowhere to bail out.
Or you can sit, wait for the green to clear, have the perfect number in, and then fat a 5 wood into the creek.
Is that Mountain Dew?
Everyone can @ me. I still hate it. But watching Evan fly the green in 2 was fun.
Funny you mention that as I found it yesterday
Hell of a driver and 5 iron
Mountain Dew would have been better. That’s extra watered down orange juice. I think Fanta tastes more like OJ than this shit. At first I tried apple juice, except only straight water dispensed (and wasn’t good water either).
So this is what was offered on the breakfast buffet:
- Belgian waffles (except there was no batter left at 8:35 am - breakfast was served until 9 am today)
- Half a loaf of sliced white bread, still in the bag
- Fruit (4 apples and 1 banana left, though by the time I decided I wanted the banana, it had already been pilfered)
- Cereal, with the two choices being Fruit Loops and Frosted Flakes
- Coffee (not a coffee drinker, did not attempt)
- Watered down, possibly non-existent juices
I did double check that the milk for the cereal was within expiration date - Nov 12, I’m safe.
Yes, that is a convenience store in the background. If you want service at the hotel front desk, you got to go into the store to get someone’s attention.
There’s some construction occurring. Where I think the pool and hot tub were located was behind a locked door with no key access. Hallways to the rooms look extremely dated and the trash by the elevator hadn’t been taken out in at least a week. Not confident yet this hotel has a maid staff. But on the bright side, a big chunk of the breakfast eating area was occupied by air conditioners that I hope they plan on installing by next summer
Room itself is fine. I was too drunk to care, but the mattress was adequate, though 4 small pillows for a king sized bed is an issue if you plan on sharing it with someone. The room had been remodeled within the last couple of years. Sink/shower area were clean and modern. But all the hardwood and tile floors make the whole floor an echo chamber. Pretty sure if the people next door decided to slice some cheese, I could have heard that. The room’s door did not close automatically, so if you do decide to stay here, make sure you close it well after exiting.
Honestly, for $70, could have been worse. The hot tub was a big selling point, and on hotels.com, that’s the lead picture, so for that to not be available is a big negative.
Just make alternate breakfast plans. This is how I’m supplementing the Fruit Loops
Hey I was there too! Along with the 400 other mini divots right next to it!
Walkers ended up with the last laugh
@golf4miami had the up and down of the round here. Came at the green from the far side of 1 tee box. Hit it to 20 feet in the far side fringe and then drained the “not a putt for longest putt” putt for a truly spectacular par.
Excellent review, thank you for your service.
Honestly, I was hoping for some juice, but happy it was just fine.
I was so upset I blocked that 2nd shot so far right and then couldn’t believe I made that “putt” from the fringe. For my best putt of the day. That didn’t count for longest putt made.
Yeah, sadly it should have been 6 iron from 210. Damn blades have too much technology.
What’s 18 in normal play? I remember 18 on River having a fairway bunker up the entire left side followed by a small dogleg left at the very end which made it really tough to go after the green once in the bunker.
Skins have been totaled.
Only 3 skins on the day.
@KHogey33 takes a skin on 7
a shocker to nobody…Collin took the other 2 on 9 & 11.
will have the total raised once i hear from my employer if they will match.
A day later I want to give a massive thanks to everyone for coming to this event. I’m not one for a ton of emotions and usually just crack jokes to avoid actual feelings (cuz men right) but I’m super proud of how this all turned out. We had a few people that had never heard of No Laying Up before in this event and all of them have expressed a ton of interest in joining the nest and becoming involved.
This is the first event I’ve ever run. Didn’t know what i was getting into. just knew i wanted to play some golf at a cool golf course. We changed courses, chased some subs, prayed to st rappeo for some better weather (will be honest i was a little nervous when i went to work thursday and it was 21 degrees) and even chased down some decent silent auction prizes - of which i had truly no idea how to go about. And yet you all supported a great cause and a great guy in our very own Australian @Ragsy47.
Another huge shoutout to @Ultra-Kiger because there’s no chance i could have done this without him.
Also…in the smallest of small world things…one of the randoms that subbed last minute was brought by one of my coworkers. he happened to be the sarge’s roommate in college…
so…one last time thanks to everyone who showed up. thanks to those that are going to show up next year. and thanks to @MerchCzar for definitely approving our roost application…right…?
