My insurance requires preauthorization for Wegovy. The last round of preauthorization took 60-days. I took my last injection January 5 and didn’t take another until yesterday. My caloric intake increased during that 2-months but it never exceeded 1,800 calories.
I give much of the credit for that to a high protein diet. It just sustains me in a way I’ve never experienced before. This past 2-months has given me confidence that I can do this myself without the injections. I’ll continue to take them for this next 6-month cycle since it’s covered by insurance. Give myself a great head-start. Then continue with my routine and maintain my fitness.
Broke the 48 hr mark. Down 7lbs which seems unreal but can’t argue with the scale I guess. I imagine once I get back on food the gut fill etc will add a couple back.
Walked 9 carrying and hit balls for a while yesterday. Whoop has me at 4,200 cals burned yesterday and I feel pretty good.
Also the breakfast burger above looks FUCKING AMAZING
This thread fires me the fuck up… Never have been overweight really, but was not happy with how I looked and how often I was craving food and drinking. Can honestly say that essentially cutting out drinking is the easiest way to get to your goals. Reduces that want for unhealthy stuff. Can anyone give me some thoughts on fasting etc?? Training for some longer running races and beeen intrigued by it.
5lbs for me. I’m sure it’ll be all right back after the first meal but the goal was never for weight loss. The mental reset has been great. I really don’t feel that hungry.
Trying semaglitude again. I’m just at such a loss of what other options there are. I’m making great lifestyle changes with Noom, increasing activity, hitting calorie goals, etc and I’m only down like 3 pounds in three months.
I think my choice is either semaglitude again and hope the side effects aren’t as bad/figure out how to minimize them or make really intense, drastic lifestyle changes. And by that I mean working out like everyday, no carbs, dramatic reduction in calories, etc. Which doesn’t seem sustainable at all. I’ve already nearly eliminated alcohol from my diet and am mostly vegan. Idk how much more intense I can go…
Easiest way to describe it was that it felt like my body was being poisoned. Intense headaches, nausea, muscle pain like I had the flu. I just felt mega sick. Couldn’t even rouse myself to golf (which we all know is a auto eject lol)
Through the last work day. I don’t feel like I have a ton of energy and while I’m not actually hungry the thought of eating some good food does sound great. All that’s left is to fall asleep and we’re golden!
Nausea is my largest side effect. To the point of vomiting a couple of times when I was dehydrated before even taking the shot. Typically it goes away in 24 hours.
I also have an elevated heart rate. Before my resting was mid to high 60’s. These days I consider it a positive if I’m in the 70’s, but frequently am resting in the low 80’s.
Any headaches I get I attribute to the fact that I’ve eaten like 400 calories in an 18 hour period. Eating and having a Gatorade usually clear that up for me.
I do recommend taking a multivitamin concurrently with semaglutide. That has helped my general feeling of wellness
I get my semaglutide shot every Friday afternoon and by Wednesday/Thursday I’m in a daze scrolling through Instagram Reels of people eating delicious food.
The semaglutide finally came in, took my first shot today. Here’s to losing weight, yes, but really to building healthy habits and finally living the life/lifestyle I want
First time / long time, thought I would share some insights on my journey with Zepbound.
Wife and I had our first kid at the end of January and figured it was the right time to lose some weight and get overall healthier. Been fighting my weight for years and various ups and downs throughout the process. Second half of last year discussed options with my doctor and he recommended Zepbound. Insurance denied coverage and recommended trying behavioral changes first. Really focused on upping exercise and tracking food but overall didn’t end up making any real progress.
With the start of 2025 and the baby approaching brought up the drugs again with my Doctor and he sent along the prescription again. This time it was approved and my first box was ready at the pharmacy before I knew it. I expected it to be a lot harder than it was. Didn’t want to start anything too drastic with the newborn so the injections sat in the Fridge for 6 weeks.
I was pretty nervous to start but took my first injection of the 2.5mg on 3/3 and was upped to the 5mg dose this morning 3/31. One month in I have lost about 15 lbs and am feeling great. Side effects have been very minimal and less with each additional injection. The first week I had some very minor pain in the injection site and some indigestion but nothing I couldn’t easily manage. By the 4th week I couldn’t even tell I did anything.
I’m still focused on exercise and tracking what I eat but it really had been a lot different than previous attempts. I’ve found that the “food noise” is much less than previously and it’s normal to go between meals and not spend the whole time thinking about food. This effect ebbs and flows through the week between injections and I’m excited to see how it changes now that I have upped my dose.
I will move to the 7.5mg dose after 4 weeks on this current 5mg and then me with my doctor to discuss the path forward from there.
Happy to answer any questions anyone may have and excited to see where this goes. Still a long way from where I need to be but taking it one day at a time initial goal is to get under 300 and then take it from there.
Hoping to update here regularly as I take on this journey and to have some others along for the ride.
