Check in Cw 238 sw 278 -40lb, need new clothes now Im approaching early 2000’s tiger baggy in my 2xl golf shirts. Fitting into old clothes I was too fat to wear but too embarrassed to donate. Currently on 10 mg, no side effects to speak of, doc is keeping me on 10 because of steady progress. Walked 18 at Mudness, and was not totally destroyed the next day. Onward to the 220’s.
Starting Weight (this year) 277, Currently 269. Got down to 238 last year before falling off the rails hard in the summer. Mostly alcohol related, with plenty of bad food choices tossed in
I talked to my doctor and got on Wegovy (semaglutide) starting last Friday. Had to get prior authorization, but it went through so I am getting back at it.
First few days I haven’t noticed much of a change in appetite, but my behaviors have changed for the better. I felt like getting the prior authorization was a wake up call that I needed to start taking my weight seriously again. I’ve been tracking on macro factor and am down 8 pounds since my doctors visit two weeks ago.
I am excited to see how things progress as the medicine continues to work its magic
Checking in here. Two weeks back on semaglutide, third shot tomorrow. I’m starting to notice huge changes in appetite/prolonged satiety. I’ve found that after a protein shake in the morning (about 250 calories), I’m too full to eat until early evening. It’s incredible. It’s also been incredibly easy to not finish what’s in front of me. Feels almost natural to eat, realize I’m satisfied, and leave some food.
I see why one of the screening questions for this stuff is prior eating disorder history, though, because I still find myself thinking of food all the time and did have one episode where I didn’t listen to my fullness and ate myself sick. All of that is getting better/easier to manage, though, as I get used to the medicine and feelings of fullness.
And best of all, absolutely zero side effects!!! I was very nervous going back onto semaglutide after my pretty awful experience on it last time, but I’m happy to report that I’m doing very well on it now. (note to anyone thinking of taking this stuff: get it from somewhere reputable. I think I had a bad producer last time. I’m going through Hims now and don’t feel like I am poisoning myself like I did on the stuff from Strive Pharmacy through PlushCare)
Lastly, the weight isn’t coming off super fast or anything, but just yesterday I looked at my Noom weight tracker and realized the trend is DOWNWARD!!! That was awesome to see and got me hype, even though I’m only down 6-7 pounds.
Keep it up everyone!
Had my 7th shot of semeglutide yesterday. Weighed in yesterday morning down 34.8 lbs since I started injections.
Sleep better, clothes feel looser, & more energy.
This progress is basically only changing my diet. Workouts have been minimal outside of a couple rounds of golf. I know I’ll plateau at some point and need to up the exercise.
Still a long way to go but we’re on our way.
Hell yeah. Great work.
Heavy lifting for God (no pun intended) to keep me from eating/drinking like an asshole.
Hell yeah man!
I just crossed the 40 lbs lost mark this week too. Down 42 since I started my shots 9 weeks ago.
Easy when you have a lot to start with! Those fast food places around Myrtle beach are barely getting by without me.
I expect to hit a plateau very soon.
Do any of you have a recommendation for yoga videos or an app? Preferably something free/on YouTube. Being unemployed at the moment, and also having problems with my feet/ankles due to wear and tear, makes it so I need to find ways to be active, but going for long walks is tough and can cause my feet to hurt really badly for 2-3 days after. I’ve done yoga before and really enjoy it, but I’m not going to pay to go to classes while not having a job, so I am hoping to just set up in my living room and do some there.
I really like Yoga with Kassandra. https://www.youtube.com/@yogawithkassandra
She’s also Canadian so I love when she says “ooooooopen up”
If you type Yoga for Golf into the Youtube search bar you’ll find a nice blend of instructors and length of practice. I enjoy the ones from Manflow Yoga, Yoga with Kassandra, White Wolf Yoga, Sportskool and Fore Yoga.
So, I’m counting calories, alternating long range-session days with Kettlebell and Yoga days. (5 exercises each workout: mix of upper, lower, and whole body, all compound movements, 10 per side or 20 double handed, working until form breaks down, 3-4 sets, followed by yoga.)
My body weight hasn’t moved a bit, but I’ve gone from the 25 lb. bells to 35-40 on almost all my exercises (except Romanian deadlifts, because those fuckers and I are not entirely on speaking terms yet). I’m glad I’m getting stronger, and that it is helping my golf swing improve, but I’d REALLY love for the recomposition to start changing the scale number.
By the way: For those of you with shoulder issues, Kettlebell Halos are frigging amazing! I have previously dislocated both shoulders (wrestling and mountain biking, respectively). I’ve done the rehab resistance band exercises, but nothing before now has given me real stability. If you have shoulder issues, watch your form and start with a big can of soup/tomatoes, then work your way up to heavier weights.
Kettlebells are awesome. If you want really good KB training, coaching, support, and community, I could not recommend these guys more.
The sizing differences on clothes these days is out of control. The first politician who passes a law that every size needs to be universal no matter the brand has my vote.
I was (embarrassingly) up to a 4xl in most polos and now all that stuff is too baggy and long. I ordered a 3xl polo in the same brand and it’s just a smidge too tight in the stomach, try on another brand in 3xl and it’s wayyyyy too tight but then Antigua and Columbia polos in 3xl fit fine.
I have no idea anymore.
Agree, it’s horrendous.
Trying to read size guides carefully and seen some companies have a XXL at a 46” chest, and some have XXL as a 52” chest.
As someone who hates tight fitting stuff, especially for golf, it reduces the market somewhat. And over in the UK, none of the cool brands have a presence
Check in at 2 months:
Current Weight: 357.6
Last Month: 366.5
Starting Weight: 381.3
Bumped up to the 7.5 MG Zepbound shot this morning after a month on 5mg. Side effects have still been pretty minimal. Limited mainly to indigestion after eating greasier / extra rich food (somewhat normal prior to ZB anyways). I notice if I string multiple bad meals together it might escalate to nausea but hasn’t led to any vomiting. In general still feeling the best I have in a long time. I shouldn’t be surprised but turns out when you eat better food you feel better all around.
On the workout side of things have increased the amount of time spent walking the dog and working on getting over to the gym for some time on the elliptical more frequently. Trying to do yoga and core Apple Fitness + workouts 2/3 times a week to help with flexibility. Would like to add weights twice a week but don’t want to add too much at once and burn out.
Check in with the doc in 2 weeks. Honestly thought I would maybe be a bit further but just reminding myself we are still trending the right way and I feel better than I have in a long time. This is a marathon and not a sprint and I’m just getting going.
Thanks for joining me in this journey!
