I’ve been pretty disciplined eating for the first fifteen or so days and I actually had gained weight, so I was a little down on myself.
Then I got some sort of upper respiratory illness, and I have basically not been hungry for the last 5 days. Now I’m down about 10 pounds!
Also I have not being able to play with my kids or do anything around the house, so its not all sunshine and rainbows.
I haven’t been able to lift in a week, so I have to get back after it today. Going to be really fun to see where my numbers are at after a week of basically bed rest
I’m starting Semaglutide here soon. Waiting on my shipment to arrive this week. Went through a local health facility vs my pcp because I’m not pre diabetic and can’t get insurance to cover it. 10 weeks for $450.
It’s expensive but if I lose weight and stop eating out so much, it’ll save me $ in the long term.
Finally got frustrated enough starting and restarting diets with minimal change that I had to try the “cheat code”.
The first 2 weeks were a challenge mentally felt queasy at times. But things normalize quickly. My appetite is completely controlled now. I used to have an uncontrollable appetite and never be full, eat big portions and graze all day even on semi high quality foods I was way over on Calories, I was in denial about how far over I was. Now am completely content with about a 1/3 of the calories. My BP is now normalized and doc has told me to break pill in half. In office bp measurement of 110/83. Used to be 165/120 in office white coat syndrome concerning for 37. Also have been using CPAP machine since August that has helped with resting pulse, BP and stress dramatically. 11/10 recommend cpap.
My check up with my PCP keeps getting moved back, so I might have to message them to see if I can get on one of these sooner. The name brand stuff is about $250 a month for me with my insurance, but it could be cheaper with prior authorization, whatever that means.
I would love to be able to turn all that willpower that I burn on resisting food into something better
Had my first shot of semaglutide yesterday. No real side effects (knock on wood) outside of a small headache when I woke up this morning. Making sure I drink a ton of water and up my protein.
Tracking my food intake and making sure I stick to my diet and have eaten way less than I normally would on a lazy Saturday but have no hunger pains. Not sure if it’s a bit of a placebo effect or the injection taking effect.
Here’s to being able to fit into better looking clothes and walk 18 again.
There is a country song whose hook is: “Every time I make my mark, somebody paints the wall.”
That is what things feel like for me right now.
I had previously been on Ozempic due to elevated A1C. It was a huge help! My weight was steadily decreasing, my energy was better, and I had mostly gotten to the point where it no longer messed with my digestion unless I did something dumb.
Then I had a checkup at the beginning of the school year. My A1C was good, my BP was down, and I was doing O.K. My health plan then yanked the Ozempic at the most stressful part of my year (because I was no longer pre-diabetic, despite still being overweight), and I went into freefall. My health plan refused to cover any other kind of semiglutide, my mental health was absolute crap, and every time I started to try to get myself back on track I got sick.
I’m now up over 327 lbs. and I NEED to change. I’m so tired of feeling this way. I am struggling hard to find motivation. I know as soon as I start being more active I will feel more energetic, but right now I’m struggling to initiate.
For now I’m going to try to get myself to walk on the treadmill every evening when I get home, log my food intake, and do some basic weight work every other day. I’m hoping that saying it out-loud will help me do it.
Sorry to hear things are not going great for you currently and hope that they turn around quickly! One thing that has helped me is going to a walk either in the morning before work or when I work from home during my lunch. Walking in the morning gives me some extra energy to start the day. Also if I wait until after work I tend to find too many excuses on why I am too busy to go for a walk or workout.
3rd shot of Semaglutide yesterday. Down 19.6 lbs since I started injections and really focusing on portions and eating healthy.
It’s crazy how you just forget about food. Normally on a diet my stomach is constantly hungry and I’m on the verge of breaking at any moment but on this, I’ll just forget to eat or have to make a conscious effort to eat.
It’s also crazy how fast you feel full. I’ll go from kind of hungry to feeling full after a small portion of food. That’s why I’m really focusing on eating slowly and making sure I eat protein and veggies first with every meal. Taking a daily multivitamin too to make up for eating around 1500 calories a day.
This. Was a wild thing at first, but got used to it fairly quickly. Portion control, eating right and drinking tons of water is the way to go. Congrats on the weight loss! I wrapped up my first month and am now down 23lbs.
Beware - your body will adjust and that feeling will subside or disappear. You can increase dosage and the efficacy comes back, but for the long haul behavioral changes are the only way forward. I’m kind of working through right now.
Coworkers talking a lot about water fasts. I wish I could even make it a few days. I’m not sure I could do much past 24hrs but there’s a part of me that wants to try.
