FcF Presents: The Classic Club Championship (June 7th 2025 at Diamond Springs GC)

Found a bullseye style putter for $15 so my bag is set.

I’ll do an official submission for review when it all arrives, but I think I’m looking at 8 pts.

Looking to source a hickory putter and fairway wood if anyone has any leads

After watching the Hickory vs Modern match with Andy and Shane, it just confirmed that there’s no chance in hell I’m using hickories. If players that good can’t sniff birdies and are struggling for pars, then no thanks!

On the one hand, yes, and that’s part of the fun

I’d like to think with 2,000yds headstart I can keep up with most of you

If you did everything hickory but the putter what would that put you at?

Not asking for me bc there is no way I can source a full lefty set of hickories without breaking the bank, but I think if you can get 2,000 yards and still have a decent flat stick at DS that would be sweet

you need two items from the hickory category and two items from the historical category to get the red tee benefit.
Or 3 hickory and one from the classic category

Very early blades is 1980 or before, pyratones are the hickory knockoffs you see sometimes, where it’s a steel shaft but with the cover so you think it’s hickory from a distance

If I was going for true sicko mode this is what I would do. Get your driver, woods and irons in hickory then get a sweet ping anser putter. Almost 45% of your shots are going to be with a putter so have the best technology in the flat stick should help save strokes

Nothing like 4 months of notice to overthink the shit out of it

The good (bad?) news is no matter what happens in the morning everyone has to go back out in the afternoon and confirm it, playing “real” golf from the B/W’s

So in the event I missed some angle and someone figures out how to game the system in the AM, well… you’re still gonna have to golf your ball later on

How many times will you practice with the $200 worth of clubs you’re buying for this event before it happens?

I’ve spent ~100 so far and only need a putter.

Granted the wedges are going to get reshafted and the persimmon woods regripped.

Answer the question Q!

It’s a valid question and the truth is I have no idea. I like to play the first few rounds of the year from the refs at my home course and that seems like a valid time to play with these.

I humbly request to be paired with someone who is going with all hicks. I just want to see it in person.

Do Ping i5 irons go in classic or modern? released in 2005. Can’t tell from the chart where they end up.

i5’s would be modern (0 points)

I’m not sure if anyone will have full hickories, as much as I hope so

Then back to Ebay we go
