The @FreshCoastFlock are excited to present our Major for 2025:
What: 36 Holes of Golf to establish the FcF’s Major Champion for 2025
When: June 7th, 2025
Where: Diamond Springs GC, just south of Grand Rapids MI
Who: YOU! We welcome FCF, FCF adjacent, any other NLU Roost members who wants to have a good time, and possibly our rando friends we’re otherwise trying to convert into true sickos. This is a limited field event, so make sure to signup fast if you want to join! Only 40 spots available. If you end up on the waitlist, keep hope; there’s dropouts and backfill at nearly every event year round.
Prizes: An NIT spot, the respect and admiration of your peers, and a firm handshake. Oh, and a trophy!
How much: $160 for 36 holes of Golf w/cart + Lunch (choice of brat/dog/bbq, chips, & drink) + Hangouts with the coolest cats you know.
Event Schedule:
- AM - Quota Golf with your choice of clubs - but with a #Catch.
- Lunch (provided on site) with a full bar to
drown your AM round memoriesget some birdie juice going for the PM - PM - Quota Golf from the Blue-White combo tees, straight up (no bonus, no catch, no restrictions → Use your daily gamers!)
The #Catch: The older the clubs in your bag, the further forward you get to play from! Use the chart to establish your category points. Your handicap (and therefore quota) will be as if you were playing from the Blue-White combos, regardless of which tee box you actually end up using!
- Modern - what you can buy off the shelves today - GI irons, Modern mallet putters, Carbon Fiber Drivers (~0-20yr old)
- Classic - Think early GI irons, Classic blades, a Ping Anser 2 , and some prime time big cat stuff (~7-40yr old clubs)
- Historical - Goodwill Persimmons, Pyratones, very early blades, and unidentifiable stuff you dug outa some old dude’s barn at an estate sale and had to brush the dust off with a broom (40-80yr old)
- OG - Where it all started. Hickories and wood shafted clubs. Bring it back to how the game was invented. (80+yr old)
Tee Box Assignments:
0 points = Blue Tees (6720yds / 72.1 / 131)
1-2 = B/W Combos (6416yds / 70.3 / 125)
3-5 = White Tees (6062yds / 68.9 / 119)
6-7 = W/G Combos (5642yds / 66.5 / 114)
8-9 = Gold Tees (5195yds / 64.7 / 108)
10+ points = Red Tees (4418yds / 61.7 / 101)
Equipment pictures need to be posted to this thread or sent via DM to me for verification and award of adjustment. No pictures, no adjustment!
You’ll receive a bonus from each club type category according to the age of the newest club in that category.
→ If you’re carrying both a hickory 5w and a Stealth 3w, you would get no bonus for the woods category.
You do not have to use a club during the round to get points for that category.
Hate the concept? Go play the blues with your regular gamers, I’m not stopping you. But you have to quota as if you were playing the B/W combos.
Love the concept? Good luck going low from the Red tees with literal sticks of wood.
Got lucky? Better confirm you know what you’re doing in the afternoon with everyone playing the same tees the best they’ve got.
Our champion will be the golfer with the best overall quota score across all 36 holes of play
Approximate itinerary:
- 7:30a - Announcements
- 7:45a - Depart for hole assignments (back 9 shotgun start)
- 8:00a - 18 Holes Classic Golf
- 12:00 - Lunch
- 2:20p - Blocked Tee times
- 8:00p - Closing Ceremony & Winner
Payment will be due no later than April 25, at which point we’ll start pulling from the waitlist. If you need to drop for any reason after May 9 you are responsible to find your own backfill, no refund (sorry (not sorry)).
