FcF Presents: The Classic Club Championship (June 7th 2025 at Diamond Springs GC)

Anyone know anything about this Epon wedge? Snagged it off eBay a while back because I liked the minimalist design and the fact that it was supposedly a Japanese forged wedge, but no idea when it was released.

i3+ and an answer putter gets me 3 points?

2 points for those two items, assuming your wedges are also similar vintage. Both fall into the “classic” category. Your driver and fairway woods could also get you points, depending on what you brought

OK. I signed up. One question …

Can I get a rules official over here?

Say you happen to play with an 11º Taylormade Original One Mini Driver (2019), but for reasons too long to get into, you’ve fitted it to a 20+ year old X100 steel driver shaft …

without getting too much into the minutia, I’m going to call that a modern club due to the technologies in the head

has me wondering for curiosity’s sake though, what would happen if you put a Fuji (or equivalent) shaft on a persimmon head? Has anyone ever tried it?

The irons I’m bringing are from 2004 (same for the wedges) and they’re going to have px6.0 shafts in them. Is that an issue?

would lean towards 1pt here as I (in my ignorance) generally give more credence to the head than the shaft when comparing equipment, but also - don’t be a scumbag?

As noted above, if I see any hickory shaft putters with modern 1.0 pistol grips, i’m going to shame the shit out of you

Wasn’t trying to be a scumbag, not that my word means anything, but I didn’t have a set of s400 laying around that are “more” time appropriate. And they had like noodles in them before.

not accusing you specifically of bad intentions, just nothing that anyone who feels they’re taking advantage of lax rules by incorporating equipment / technology they KNOW is against the spirit of the thing should feelsbadman.gif

I sent this option to Quinton the other day and he correctly predicted your response

I think heads are way more important than shafts for these purposes.
