Cincinnati golfers

Skyline all the way. Though I’d happily eat at any of the local chili houses.

And my favorite Skyline locations are Kenwood and Oakley.

Zips is the best. Love their chili. Used to live in an apt on Mt. Lookout square out of college. Would walk to Zips a couple times/week.

The bar at Zips on a winter day. We like that.

You know the owner of the Kenwood one is a golf nut? Golf channel on 24/7

A Zip burger, a bowl of chili with cheese and extra crackers, and a side of fries would be a godsend right about now

Forgot to mention Quatman Cafe (Norwood) on the food side. That place screams Strapped - great burgers and cold Hudy.

They need to go to Richies fried chicken. Just down from Avon Fields (though I usually go to the Colerain Rd one)

Played Devou Park Golf Course in Covington yesterday morning. It was in great shape and the new clubhouse gives it a completely different vibe than it had before. Strong recommendation for anybody looking to play a public course in the Cincinnati area.

Hey guys, new to the refuge, hope you can help me out.

My sister and I are both away at college which leaves my parents as empty nesters. We have all encouraged my dad to join a golf league but he’s not sure where to start. We both love NLU’s content and community. Anyone a part of a league/know of a league in Cincinnati that could welcome him? He is 66 years old and pretty decent player, probably around 15 handicap if he played every week. We live on the east side but he works in the city so there is some flexibility on location.

I’m pretty sure there are senior leagues at just about every muni. I would just tell him to call around and see if there are any leagues that fit his schedule that are in need of subs right now.

Yo, Cincy/NKY area local Refugees. If you would like to join a local WhatsApp, just to keep in touch now and again and perhaps meet up from time to time, feel free to shoot me a DM and I will provide a link. I sent to many of you already, but I am sure I missed plenty of locals - give me a holler!

Any Cincy Refugees playing in the Men’s Met at Shaker and Heritage next week?

Hello all, my lady friend just accepted a job in Cincy and will be moving out in a few weeks. I’m looking for work there now and will hopefully be heading that way soon. Looking for any golf/restaurant/apartment searching advice anyone is happy to provide. We’re mid to upper 20’s and really excited about the move but have no Cincinnati knowledge whatsoever. Thanks in advance!!

What part of town is she working in?

Odds are you will like Oakley, Mt. Lookout, or Hyde Park.

Her office is in West Chester. So, not in the city city

Oakley/Hyde Park will probably be your best bet. Northside may also be a good option if you are cool with a more hipster scene. Unfortunately, there are not a lot of younger neighborhoods between the city and West Chester along I-75. My wife used to commute to West Chester from both downtown and Hyde Park. Do you plan to rent or buy?

Yeah…West Chester is kind of “out there.”

If like suburbia, then live close to West Chester.

If you like more “city” living, then dealing with the commute is probably necessary. Although North College Hill is an option.

West Chester has some cheap golf membership options. Four Bridges is okay. If you are in North College Hill, then Clovernook would be a good option.

Rent for now. Would like to do a year or two in the city.

Oakley/Hyde park. Don’t live in cincy but travel often for work and have many friends there around your age.

Once you hit 30s then check out Madeira and blue ash. Housing market is crazy competitive right now so renting is good.
