Its amazing. Honestly if it was in a more accessible place it would be more notable. The best thing is that unlike some of the more famous resort/stay and plays - its unlimited golf while you are there. So there isn’t any charge for replay or 2nd round.
You can casually do 36 a day without thinking about running the register for the 2nd time around. The horse course was ahead of its time now that the short courses are all the rage at Sand Valley, Pinehurst, etc.
I’m glad @MH4@sundaybag have attested. I felt like I was taking crazy pills that no one else ever really mentioned it for midwest golf destinations.
Dates are only a target at this point. By Sept 1 we will have enough time to realize the type of conditions to expect.
We want to do 3 events per year moving forward:
One where it is just an open day or weekend where anyone can just come out and play the course - fully open to the public. This will be more to suffice locally if we end up trying to get more local attention. As of now we are completely online.
A Club Championship. This one would be more structured and for the die hards that would travel in for it. Similar to a Ringer style event with different events throughout the weekend and a huge horse race where we would actually play HORSE on the course to determine the winner - someone selects the first hole and the entire group plays to it knocking out people along the way until one person stands. Weekend long champ hoists the trophy @libraryTryhard designed.
Last but certainly not least would be an old school equipment event. Would love to get 8 or so Louisville Golf hickory wedges and send people out to knock it around with those.
Have not seriously kicked this idea around. It is something i’ve wished/dreamed about. As of right now, I don’t know of any courses in the area, but would travel for sod!
Get a Rode mic. Cheap-ish and effective for things like walk-and-talk outdoor interviews. Sit down interviews should use a boom mic and c-stand. I can talk to you about this stuff all day as I have significant experience in this area.
So… Andy Johnson thinks having “National” in name stinks. ANGC and Golf Links should be the only “Nationals”. Totally understand where he is coming from. What do you guys think?
Keep it in there. All the logos would have to change… the BCN acronym would no longer have meaning…it’s too mature at this point. Plus I just don’t see a reason not to have it there.
