Alamo Duel - Charitable Update (Post #3544)

The thoughts on the state of @leric90’s game are much appreciated ahead of the Unsanctioned Strapped Scotland Tour.

He’s been claiming a scummy non-TC way 5/6 handicap. Looks like that is under revision by the competition committee now, and can’t wait to reveal a surprise in April.

That approach was an affront to my putt-from-anywhere identity. I couldn’t believe what I was watching sometimes :joy: but hey, @leric90 was dialed so what can I say?

Last call for any final Birdie/Par donations!!! Sending the final pot of money to Magdalena at 12 PM Central time today!

Might you be suggesting that in fact @leric90 might be… the next Julian Suri??

hit potential is seriously +3-4 range but his course management is…could be better. that’s the only thing holding back.

play golf. not golf swing.

I agree with everything said about @leric90 after playing 21 holes with him on Saturday (#NoRagrets).

On top of all the nice things said about his swing/game, I just want to say that playing with @leric90 @bmb430 and @jsteve15 was the best, most chill competitive round you could ever ask for. It ended all square between Eric and Brian and they were both complimenting each other’s shots from the first tee to the last hole—the only frustrating thing about playing with Eric and Brian is that you’re frustrated that you have to go play your ball and can’t just watch them swing.

The only frustrating thing about playing with @jsteve15 is the absolutely ABSURD number of times he would hit it into fairway bunkers and then stripe a recovery shot up to the green to halve the hole at par. This is why our rematch at Memorial Park will be legendary—no bunkers to save you.

I’m just watching the coverage of the duel for the first time with sound. @BaxterMSP says bag perfectly fine, find a new slant.

At some point I had to poke back a bit at the duelers, try to get an off the cuff response. No offense to anyone :upside_down_face:

No offense taken. My own wife slights my dialect since I pronounce study as “steady”.

I was in this exact position and did not sign up for the event until the last minute, and the entire day was fantastic. I’ve been an NLU fan for a long time but didn’t sign up for the Refuge until a couple months ago (Soly’s NYE tweet about the Nest gift motivated me). For anyone new like me who is considering going to a refuge meetup, I highly recommend pulling the trigger and signing up, especially if you’re in driving distance (this is calling out anyone close to Aiken, Detroit, Charlotte, etc). You will not regret it!

Every person I met during the day was first-class. Special shoutout to my playing parters at Brack @anon26814599 @jbrooks @therealmarkymark for welcoming me and putting up with my inability to get the speed of the greens right all day. Y’all made the round very enjoyable.

My only regret was not coming down to San Antonio on Friday to get an extra round in and go out that night with everyone. I look forward to attending another event with y’all in the future!
