A thread for the Texas folks

I’ve played there a few years ago. Really enjoyed it

This is a solid list. I would add Texas Star to the nice list. I’ve played Texas Rangers twice now and I think it’s the best in town. It is pricey though.

Tierra verde is by far my fav from that list. Played it last weekend and it’s in great shape let me know if you have an extra spot.

Golf Club of Dallas is much better than it’s been in the past couple years, they’re finally getting some more money to put into the course and it shows.

Tierra Verde and Waterchase are both good, Waterchase can be a bit of a beatdown from the back tees.

Cedar Crest was in great shape two months ago. Given the great run of weather we’ve have the last 2 months I can’t imagine that it went to shit. Golf Club of Dallas is serviceable. There will be some thin tee boxes in shady areas and some rough patches around greens but it’s a really cool course if you enjoy Maxwell designs. The routing does such a great job of getting the most out of a tight 125ish acres of property. It has 70’ of elevation movement on a gradual slope from NW to SE. Maxwell ran 15 of 18 holes across the slope to make many holes play longer than they are. Despite not being in pristine condition (though it’s improving with new ownership), it’s one of my favorite architectural studies in town that hasn’t really been messed with.

Played Cedar Crest a few weeks ago, still in pretty decent shape since Dallas Am qualifiers. Looks like they punched the greens a little late so they’re having a bit of a tough time filling in certain spots, but they still ran true for me.

GCoD is a neat look at a Maxwell if you’re okay with some hairy spots. Add in cheap drink prices and your pick of good tee times and I’d say it’s worth the value.

Has anyone in the DFW area played Riverchase lately? They’ve got a bunch of open times Friday morning and thinking about sneaking out there to play

Last time I played there was over the summer. The course was pretty unremarkable but nothing awful. Showed up to the first tee with about six groups waiting to tee off then played a 5.5 hour round, but that aspect should be better on a Friday morning.

Got a full tee time left for the Austin meet-up this Saturday! Go book it up! If it isn’t booked by tomorrow I’m going to cancel it! Also if you have some friends that might like to come invite them. We can prophetize them into the NLU fold with our banter and inside jokes they won’t understand.

Is it too late to sign up for this Mayhem? I’m new to this whole “golf thing” @cgroom @SaveMuny

I’ve had a bad case of the hooks recently, currently hemorrhaging shots to the field. @cgroom will walk all over me out there
