A thread for the Texas folks

But hey, you’ve got Bucee’s on the right side of the road. Which is nice.

Edit: Bucee’s with one “c”, not two. Not thicc.

I feel like at Lions there are a lot corners that can be challenged and some that are death by cedar trees. Anyone have success stories of trying to cut those corners? ie. 1, 5, 6, 9, 11 (I don’t have many positive experiences…)

I will try to cut all corners Saturday for research purposes @HellerHighwater

@Chums @HellerHighwater

I played city qualifier there (keyword qualifier not championship).

1-- Worst opening hole of all time. Some guys in qualifier hit driver towards 4 tee box. Not great to cut, not great to layup. This hole just flat out sucks. (Uncle Ben agrees).
5 --draw it a little. hole is longer than you think if you hit it right.
6 --Not the smart play, but I usually hit driver.
9-- Risk not worth reward.
11–Always Driver IMO. swing away right over trees. More open than it looks.

I’ll take the opening hole at Lions over the opening hole at Jimmy Clay any day

Not sure how qualified I am to give advice, but mine would be along the same lines.
#5 - tremendous reward for going over the trees and cutting the dogleg. Too much risk for someone of my skill level.
#6 - good opportunity to cut the corner if you hit a dependable fade. Driver may be too much, especially if your fade doesn’t fade.
#11 - Definitely go over the trees, provided you can keep it from going too far right. Even if you do, there’s a fair chance of an open shot.

#10 - given the name of the site, I would expect everyone to go for the green here

Best drive I’ve ever seen in my life from my buddy 2 weeks ago on 5. Cut the corner and was 10 yards from the green on right side. Proceeded to 3 put bogey :joy:

@cgroom and I have a bone to pick with the Google Doc creator not allowing us to input our vanity +handicaps. I work too hard for people to think I’m good only to disappoint them and shoot 80

Are we full or have room for 1 more?

We could add one I think. Let me check. You got a guy 100% in?

A word from the Google docs creator:

suck it.

We have extra slot for your tee time. Bring an extra.

What does the “BOOKED” entry in the spreadsheet mean, @XtraStiffWhiff?

I wanted to allow lions to fill the spots we couldn’t fill #savemuny. So I just called the course and told them to take them out of our name. HOWEVER. If you have someone that will fill the spot let me know and I’ll get them back.

Played Golf Club of Dallas. That is a steal at $40. Greens rolled really well. Layout was spectacular. You can tel it is realy close to being amazing, just needs an investment.

We played in 3 hours, which seems impossible for Dallas. Tee sheet wasn’t packed. Was a great day and I’m shocked that place isn’t more well known or packed.

That’s awesome. Love a quick round. I got around Cedar Crest in 2:40 last Sunday and that was with plenty of wayward shots

2 tee times left. 1 at 8am and 1 at 8:20. Plug a name in and bring a buddy!

@Chums / @XtraStiffWhiff: we’ve got a developing situation. Just as I became completely dialed at the range this evening my back stiffened up. I’m treating it with the doctor recommended ibuprofen and Tex-Mex.

I’m setting my alarm for the morning and expect to be there. If I’m a late scratch I’ll let you know ASAP.

Opening hole at Clay is daunting. At Lions it is dumb.
