You said traffic as a con and then mentioned a bunch of areas with terrible traffic
My current girlfriend lived in Sylvan 30. Great little area. I honestly wish we moved into her place instead, but the dog is happy we didn’t.
I’m 32, getting married next year and probably looking to start a family not too long after that. In terms of what we like, I guess I’d say I prefer the trendy/hipster type restaurants/bars/coffee shops and not so much the chains. I’m sure that will change somewhat as said family starts to grow but I like the idea of going somewhere that’s “one of a kind” and it’s only location or one of only a couple.
With this being said he is 100% right don’t go to Addison. I just stan for Addison due to the convenient location of being able to get to pretty much anywhere in DFW at a reasonable pace.
All of the ‘plex has less-than-perfect traffic. Hard for me to imagine worse than in/around Addison (didn’t even mention the Tollway… God forbid you have to be on that daily).
Addison just makes me think of concrete and Red Lobster, but certainly centrally-located, to be fair.
32 and liking more trendy-type areas would lead me to my original suggestions, but maybe less-so uptown. Awesome area for walking around, fun bars and restaurants, but can draw the 25-y.o. d-bag bro crowd a bit more than y’all may like. But it’s easy to not go to the places that might draw that crowd.
You’ve got a weird vendetta about Addison. It doesn’t even reach 635 and I can imagine at least 5 worse areas in the plex easy
Perhaps just bad memories of post-college couple years spent in that area.
Regardless, I’m glad we could use our collective internet wisdom to steer Mr. and the future Mrs. McShankerston more in a direction toward what they might be seeking. Mazel tov and cent anni to you both.

Did we get enough love on the NIT qualifier question now to make it one?
Also has anyone tried to tweet or get a hold of Bob Sturm? Someone mentioned it earlier and didn’t know if they followed through
Looks like you all are good with it being a qualifier, so happy to make that happen!
As for Sturm, lmk if his DM’s are open. Otherwise I can shoot him one and let him know details and that he’s welcome.
Just checked and his DM’s are not open for business
I don’t think Sturm has messaging open on his social media accounts. I looked a couple weeks ago.
Just shot him a message with details. Will keep you posted
I’m not very active with posting in here, but just put my name on the sheet for both morning and afternoon. Happy to do either/or if the full day isn’t available. Looking forward to getting out with some of ya’ll!
You’re absolutely welcome to join. We’ll be turning in headcounts to GC Dallas and Cedar Crest tomorrow and currently have:
19+1 for Golf Club of Dallas
19+2 for Cedar Crest
We’re still looking for responses from:
@will035
@Rudy
@Haymart
Once we close up numbers, then we will come back to everybody that’s in to confirm availability for lunch. Our very tentative plan is to try and reserve a few outdoor tables at Terry Black’s BBQ in Deep Ellum. Otherwise it may be lunchables, fruit snacks and a beer cooler in the GCD parking lot
It doesn’t look like i’ll be able to make this one. I hope you guys have a great time, hate to miss it!
On this note, let’s get final confirmations in by tomorrow midday or so to finalize numbers with the courses so @mctrees02 and I can start working on format.
One thing we will ask both courses is what their current cart policies are, I think Cedar Crest is still sending out one person per cart if not related. I want to make sure everyone in this group is not put into a situation they’re not comfortable with, given the recent spike in the 'plex.
If you have any concerns or thoughts on that end, feel free to speak up here or send us a DM, but otherwise, when we get closer to the event, I’ll be a pain in the ass in reminding everyone about certain distancing guidelines for the event.
I spent the fourth up in Michigan with my family and unexpectedly stayed up here to work from home so I am out at the moment. Really hoping we do another one of these soon (maybe make this an annual thing?).
We like that!
Would love to connect, I run AB Moving. Residential and commercial mover- licensed RE sales agent also.
Pine Dunes is a good walk. Doesn’t quite feel like you’re in Texas. Bring cooler for snacks, beverages, etc. It is a remote property. You won’t be swinging by any kind Whataburger after you leave the course.
