Playing with @Insulin_And_Bogeys in one of the mid morning slots - first round in six months …

I think @therealmarkymark is playing with his brothers and dad.

I haven’t seen an email with tee times yet. Have you?

Have not seen a tee time, but we’re slotted in mid morning as well I believe! Would love to catch up in the clubhouse though. Been a minute since I’ve seen much of the Dallas crew.

I saw @the_korn_ferry, and @atxag2015 on the list too.

Im more of a lurker and Silk Road addict, but I’m playing as well. Should be a morning round.

Love it. We’ll see you there. I’ll be in a mustache. Maybe wearing some sort of errant drive logo.

Haha I did know! Looking forward to it, haven’t messaged @DuckDuckHook in a while

PUP list for the fall season has not been fun. Might need both of you to be my Emotional Support Golfers on the 27th.

On the way to Corpus Christi

I’m staying at the Doubletree

Any restaurants or bars that I should make sure to go to?

Water Street is a great restaurant with a cool atmosphere. The Post at Lamar Park is also nice for food and great drinks.

Shot in the dark here. My parents are flying into El Paso for a trip in February to visit the National Parks in Texas and New Mexico over the course of a few weeks then flying back home from San Antonio. I think their route is El Paso up to New Mexico then back down to Big Bend then over to San Antonio.

I’ve only spent a week in El Paso for a work conference 5 years ago and a week in San Antonio 15 years ago so I’m not familiar enough to recommend anything outside of some bars we drank at. Looking for any recommendations for any restaurants or experiences along their trip that I could buy a gift certificate for them for Christmas. I could go the gas card route since they’ll be driving quite a bit but would rather help them experience a local spot with that gift.

If Las Cruces is part of the trip then I can give them some stops (if it currently isn’t, let me advocate for it here). I can’t really offer anything for El Paso but @jsauce might be able to help.

I got you. Born and raised in El Paso.

Definitely recommend either L&J’s or Los Bandidos De Carlos & Mickey’s where the food is good, vibes are fun and the margaritas rock. Taconeta is another good spot that’s popular — a lil more hipster than the other places.

My fav bar is downtown called The Tap. It’s a dive bar with killer nachos and a known establishment in the city. If they prefer something a lil more classy then I would suggest the Dome Bar at the Camino Real hotel or Cafe Central.

They’ll also want to try the burritos while in town, they’re what we’re known for. There was a great write up about them recently in the New York Times and can’t go wrong with any of the author’s choices. Our best breakfast and lunch option.

The hip place to go in town for modern Mexican food is called Elemi — highly recommend. The owners are on a temp hiatus while recipe hunting but if they’re open I can’t suggest it more.

And if they’re driving up New Mexico I gotta suggest going to the Original Owl Cafe in San Antonio, NM for a green chilli cheese burger. So damn good.

Hit me up if you have any more specific details. I love my hometown and want people to have a great time.

This is perfect. Thank you! I actually recommended L&J ‘s to them already as it was the only place I remember going to that week. I’m going to get their full itinerary and figure out the best places to get them a gift card for.

If they don’t know where they’re staying yet when traveling through big bend, or if they just want some cool places to stop and have a drink, I’d highly suggest checking out the Trost Trail. Really cool architecture in fun west Texas towns.

Would echo a lot of what @GCinDC mentioned (eastsider here).

Elemi is great but also check out Casa Pantera for some upscale Mexican food. Taconeta is also one of my favorite taco places. Pretty hipster but still some damn good tacos and the elotes are a must, IMO.

Tacotote is a Mexican chain of tacos but some of my favorite in the city, esp the sirloin.

For coffee/brunch, I highly recommend 2Ten coffee roasters and The Pink Cloud.

Other classy restaurants I’d recommend is Cattleman’s Steakhouse, for a true Texas steakhouse experience. Just hit cuts of meat, and increíble sides. They literally bring small buckets of beans to your table, so good.

Ardovino’s is also a great restaurant. Small, quaint, often with live music and incredible food.

If they want some sightseeing, tell them to check out hueco tanks state park or scenic drive. Hueco tanks is truly unique to the area and can make for a nice outdoor activity.

There are two pretty awesome national parks just a couple of hours away, in white sands and Carlsbad caverns. Both really unique and fun activities.

On the more relaxing side, I always try to make a drive up to Truth or Consequence, NM and either stay a night or get a day pass at the hot springs resort there. Relatively inexpensive and very refreshing.
