Haven’t gotten out to Keeton and I need to. Play a lot at Cedar Crest, Irving, and Rockwood. But the Bridges is a lot of fun and #6 is a wild and awesome hole.
Coming in with some hot takes here!
Yeaaaa duck creek is ass.
For around the same price you could go play firewheel which isn’t super challenging but…better…I guess?
No love for Old American or Tribute?!
Testing new Roost flair. @omarmjhd does this work?
eyyyy there we go!
Tony at Keeton Park is the man. I shaved 5-10 strokes off my game with his lessons. His son runs the pro shop and it’s a really fun place that bumps music and has a laid back vibe.
The Thursday night scramble is a fun time. The course is okay for a muni, but the greens take a beating. Good place to practice with the grass driving range featuring tons of targets.
I take lessons from Ty. He’s great. Super laid back, can’t beat the price either.
this was the final push I needed to go ahead and sign up for a lesson
Firewheel is definitely better but that’s not exactly saying much. I’ve wanted to play both Old American and Tribute for the longest time but just haven’t the opportunity. Have heard great things though
I played duck creek twice last year and it was in mediocre condition. They were working hard to get it up to snuff. Firewheel Lakes is a go to on our rotation, but man that course can whip your ass if you miss a shot. So much water and almost every green seems to be elevated.
Played Crystal Falls yesterday and had the worst time. I think if you can accept hitting a 4 or 5 off the tee fairly often, you’ll have a better time. Also not a huge fan of the par 3s with severe drop offs where it’s a blind shot.
Totally agree with the idea that Crystal is a place for irons and wedges only. It is tough in the summer when it’s baked out. Fairways bank enough that you have to hit certain spins to hold them. Can be wild.
Can confirm he was still out there as of about two months ago. Sold my friend’s dad 100 balls for $20
Hopefully the pricing isn’t stupid, this should be a fun addition in town during bad weather stretches. I don’t know of any other place in town with rentable TrackMan spots?
What is absolutely amazing is that the experience there is literally 1000 times better than when it was first opened. I grew up in that area, and was stoked to have a hill country golf course opening nearby. It was so bad, I refused to set foot on the property from about 1998 through 2012 or so. It’s so, so, SO much better now; it’s at least playable. “back in the day”, 9 and 18 were literally unplayable, as any ball in any portion of the fairway would roll into the deep rough or even all the way into a hazard.
Lose soooooo many balls there. Lost all my christmas balls there a couple weeks back. Still fun, and pace is very very slow. Worth enduring the lost balls and slow play just to experience the new grill operation run by Gino! from Gino’s Vino. Unbelievable energy coming from that guy
City Golf Club has some you can rent but I’ve heard it’s tough to get any bays if you’re not a member.
I rented here once and had a great experience. They have full trackman bays and the Owner gave us a dozen new ProV’s to use.
I’m excited about this, I’ve been holding off bringing it up because I didn’t want far ahead of anything. My future brother-in-law is the main guy working with Mike Bury to get this up and running.
It’ll be a fun environment, if you want to just play on the simulator and drink and eat, you can totally do that. But they will also have a large focus on teaching. Basically it will come with dozens of focused instructional videos from Mike to help you work on your individualized game.
Also, for those on the Fort Worth side, 1611 Golf Club is good for some indoor Trackman work and a hang.
One of my dad’s buddies just opened this place in McAllen too
Killers Golf | Simulator Golf in McAllen, TX
Ron is fucking wild though so we’ll see how it goes
