A thread for the Texas folks

Paging Dr. (Moby) Dick, @Prof_D himself, a fellow Wacoite (Wacosian?).

I just moved to temple. Looking for people to play with

So December 22nd there will be a NLU meet up in frisco…. Right…?? @Soly @Tron @Randy

We were super worried that the Redhawks were going to the Barstool Bowl in Tucson, so this is a massive, massive win.

Ah, yes! Though if anyone ever called me a Wacoan, I’d probably have to punch them in the ear. I’m a North Carolinian (a Wilmingtonian, more specifically) through and through.

@Kileyword welcome! Where do you play? I’m a member at Ridgewood, and there are some great guys out there. It’s totally reasonable, and if you play a lot it’ll pay for itself compared to banging balls at Cottonwood or Bear Ridge. If you want to play out there sometime, let me know!

Anyone been out to pine dunes recently?

About a month ago. It was good - as usual. Greens weren’t pristine, but rolled great.

good to hear…
hoping I can get out between the winter break… (Dec 18th -Jan 2nd)

Everyone mark your calendars for the morning of January 30 for a Big Plex group outing, “The Ice Bowl,” at Cedar Crest, and possibly finding a spot to watch the football afterwards. Have confirmed availability, and I will create an event page and circulate a sign-up sheet once I know pricing and exact times. We will likely have both an individual and team component to this, and hopefully some sort of NFL-themed apparel contest. As stated above, non-Big Plex folks are welcome. Even those from other nascent Roosts/Coops.

In the meantime, here’s the rough version of our logo, we’re still working on getting it cleaned up a bit, so it’s easy to use for merch and events.

Me and some guys were going to drive up from Waco and play 36 on Monday, but they’re having some corporate outing that morning so I think we’re going to push it back a week to the 20th. Haven’t been there in 3-4 years, and can’t wait to play it again.

Heading there the 17-19.

Was out there the Wednesday before Thanksgiving! $69 during the week is hard to beat. Watch your ball closely if it’s heading towards the trees though - leaf szn is in full effect

Didn’t think about that… damn… won’t stop me and my ole man
He might be itching to get back out there more than me

Can anyone recommend a spot to eat in Palestine on a Friday or Saturday night? Gonna grill at PD at least one day, but probably head into town the other day.

It’s been a few years but I really enjoyed Pint and Barrel: http://www.pintandbarrel.com/

It’s really farther away than you think to get to Palestine or Tyler; I’d just eat at the PD grill, or grill out both nights. That said, if I were heading somewhere, I head to the I69 highway corridor south of Tyler. It’s basically dallas, all national chains, but it gets you away from the golf course and it’s not any farther away than Palestine.

Ugh, I’ve gotta get into the Texas Cup. Pine Dunes is the gaping hole in my Texas public golf resume.
