Anyone know if it’s pretty easy to walk on to Brackenridge Park? I may have a meeting that might get cancelled tomorrow afternoon and I would try to walk on sometime around 3 or 3:30 if that happens. I know in Dallas it’s usually easy to hop on the muni’s as a solo during a weeknight afternoon/evening round.
It’s usually very easy to walk on at Brackenridge as a solo. I’ve done it almost every Friday this summer and haven’t had an issue.
Holy shit snack. Man I might not go back if that’s the case.
Playing Butterfield this Saturday morning at 8AM, if anyone is interested/around.
For anyone that might have missed it the TX Cup sign up for 2022 is live. Looking to have a strong alternate list just in case.
Forgot the most important pic. This place was insane. Absolutely worth the wait (and price). Truly an experience. I’m not doing a full breakdown but if you’re into barbecue, make the trip.
How long was the wait this morning?
lol this whole post, haven’t been on in months but just need to shake your hand.
Glad to see Pecan put into it’s rightful place of sympathy vote at best. Place hasn’t been good in 6 years.
We got there at 9 at got food at 12. If you get there by at least 10 you should be fine. But it was also kind of cold so the line may not have been as long as usual. Although “usual” is relative because they’ve blown up in such a short period of time.
Just wanted to give an endorsement for playing Apache Links and Comanche Lakes in Glen Rose. Played both of them yesterday for the first time and had a blast. I was impressed with the conditions they keep the whole place in. The greens were smooth and slick. Definitely didn’t want to be above the hole once the morning dew wore off. Great tee boxes, good fairways, etc.
Also, don’t sleep on their Rooster Grill for lunch. I had a French Dip sandwich special they had for like 8 bucks that was restaurant quality. All the people there were super nice as well. Just a great day all around. I highly recommend it for those that haven’t checked it out. Don’t miss either course if you go… they’re both very worth the time and money. Even on a Saturday with ideal weather conditions, it wasn’t that crowded at all. In fact, we intended to play 36 yesterday and ended up getting in 45 in the same amount of time.
I might give the very slightest edge preference to Apache Links over Comanche Trails but if I was playing 10 rounds, it’d easily be 6-4 at most if not a true 5-5 situation.
Even though I live in Austin, I’ll definitely be making some trips back there to play 36+ over a weekend. Would be a great place for a guys Ryder Cup type event too.
Hey North Texas folks, check out the Colligan Cup! Looking forward to the new competition this season
Colligan Cup - DFW Competition
Shouting out Black Board BBQ in Sisterdale. Worth the drive if you’re in the Hill Country. Potentially the best fried fish I’ve ever had with their catfish special.
Gotta watch your back on 18 at Whispering Pines…
Does anyone know the conditions of Canyon West or Crosstimbers? I am looking to play a round at a new course and haven’t tried either place.
I haven’t played either one in a while but if you’re looking out west, Sugar Tree is also a good hidden gem (when the back 9 isn’t under water)
Honestly had no idea Houston had gators
Houston is a swamp
Bumping the Colligan Cup once more for anyone in the plex! Go sign up on the spreadsheet and pay the man (@WhineyCracker52). We’ve got groups getting out for the first round at Irving the next couple weekends.

I live in a suburb north of Houston and there’s for sure Gators here. Saw a decent sized one in a park near me recently.
