There was a pretty large one on our course in Tomball the other day. They’re fairly docile though.
Also saw an 8 foot snake just slithering down the fairway on 16 so we gave it a minute to get to its destination.

Wise decision.
Any refugees around TPC Craig Ranch? I just started a new job .5 mile away.
What fucking 8 foot snake is there in tomball? Indigo?
It was a milk snake so probably more like 6 feet but it definitely looked taller than me. I wasn’t getting close to check though.
That’s fair. A six foot milk shake would freak me out. Kelis may disagree.
I’m not far from there at 25 minutes. You’re in an area with some really good golf all within 30-35 minutes of you.
A six foot milk shake would definitely bring me to the yard.
Fellow Baylor grad here. My parents built a house on Bear Ridge right before COVID so I’ve probably played the course 30-40 times since it’s been renovated.
The bones of the course are phenomenal, especially on the back 9. There’s a fair amount of land movement and overall it’s a quintessential central Texas golf experience. Non-elevated greens and firm Texas earth make for great opportunities to play the ball on the ground. The new owners have done a great job with everything. Biggest changes are they completely reseeded the greens and redid all of the bunkers. It’s exciting that the conditions of the course are starting to catch up to its architecture.
Watson played the course in November 2020 and raved about it. His favorite hole: number 5. A long uphill par 3 to a blind green. The linksiest hole he could find out there.
I want to gauge the interest in getting together a state-wide match play tournament going. I’ve seen posts from other states doing something similar, and I know that Houston and Dallas are doing something similar locally. We could add an Austin matchplay group, and then play-off the winners somewhere central (waco?) for statewide supremacy, or run a new tournament altogether. Thoughts?
Format would be fairly standard match play - group folks regionally, give everyone a week or two to play their matches (hopefully faster). Play round-robin (or close to it) inside the group stage, and then find a way to nominate a winner or two to send to the playoff outing.
Dallas and Houston folks, are yall doing a matchplay thing at the moment? If Austin got it’s shit together, would you want to send your winners somewhere central after we all wrap up? Mega-playoff?

Like the idea! DFW just wrapped up our match play and we’re about to kick off a 4-round quota tournament that goes through early April. We could either send our most recent finalists or make this a mid 2022 effort, but I’m sure they’d be some interest.

DFW match play finished about a month or so ago.
Would be in if it’s May or later next year.
Would very likely be in for the Austin area group. I’ll keep an eye on this thread to see what, if anything, may develop.
Houston is getting our prelim rounds in now. Full bracket set before New Years
Yeah I won’t be able to do much until next month
Any Lubbock area folks active in this thread?
Midland guy here. Spent four years up there for school
Where do you play in midland? Grew up there.
