A thread for the Texas folks

I’ll second Bridlewood and Wildhorse. Both are quality.

Timberlinks is a cheap 9 hole course that’s closer in to town. It has the dumbest hole in the great state of Texas (# 9), but could be an option if time is a concern.

Wild horse looks like a winner as just 15 minutes from hotel straight down 35w.

Timberlinks is like a real-life 2K course gone awry

Timarron is ok. I played it back in June. Nice country club, greens were lightning quick, but the layout isn’t anything special.

I am going to be in Amarillo next Friday and hope to play Ross Rogers for the first time in 10+ years. Is the Mustang Course the move or should I check out WildHorse?

I haven’t played there in 3 or 4 years. Both courses are fun but I remember Mustang having really good greens and being the better course. Both are great however. It’s splitting hairs.

I hope you do enjoy it. Not many Nelson designs around. It has some fun 5 pars. Tree liner and winds through a not too shabby Southlake/Colleyville hood but isn’t claustrophobic. Enjoy the golf and the booze!

Played in the FTW 2-man tournament this weekend, Rockwood and Pecan Valley are in great shape right now, they rolled the greens at RW and they were speedy and firm.

Austin Meet Up at Butler Proposal

Posted over on Atx/Sa Role Call - If we can get some buzz going I will add sign up sheet and vote on dates.

I am proposing an ATX Meet Up at Butler in early October. Thursday-Sunday & Texas Football away weekend. (Oct 2 and Oct 9 are away games) I haven’t played Butler but really want to get out there and enjoy it with a willing group.

Drove by it yesterday and got me thinking,

we could caravan the course with some fun CTP and Polly games as well as a possible team format and of course, an Ace Pot. The Ryder Cup highs will be gone and the golf serotonin will be lacking by early October.

Anyone that misses a green takes a shot!

Let’s get Silly Szn started at Butler.

Current Tulsan – as of last week, I’m under contract on a build in Aledo with closing slated for mid-2022. Someone talk to me about Squaw Creek.

I used to play Rockwood (pre-renovation) and Pecan Valley all the time when I lived in FW, they still going strong?

Squaw’s great. Usually in good condition and it was recently renovated by the same company that did Rockwood, Rangers, and River Crest. Solid practice facility too although it’s often busy with kids from The First Tee which just opened a new building there. Bring your own beers as they don’t have a liquor license. Hit me up if you’re in town and I’ll join you for a round out there.

Yes, Squaw Creek is a lot of fun. Was in great condition when I played there last month and saw tons of deer on the course. If you used to play Rockwood I would definitely recommend checking it out. Completely different vibe and more challenging than it looks. Pecan Valley hasn’t changed at all.

Squaw is solid. It’s almost always in better shape than Split Rail and it’s just more fun to play.

I am going to be in Lubbock on October 8th and 9th. Looking to tee it up at the Rawls course. If anyone in here lives around Lubbock and wants to join me I would love to have a sherpa show me around

Book your tee times now and know it’s going to play slow. It’s a game day weekend in Lubbock so… :grimacing:

I’m going to be there for the game also. Depends on what time the game is that Saturday. If it’s 11am the course will be pretty open

Denton checking in. Any refugees in the area?

We got a strong contingency just a bit south of you!

Here’s a link to join the whats app we have with all the DFW people where we try to organize tee times and such.

Hello Texas refugees… Going to be down in El Paso for the next couple of months, if anyone is around to play some golf, let me know.
