A thread for the Texas folks

Trinity Forest at 37 in the state and no Pine Dunes in the top 50 is so dumb in a state where almost every golf course besides those two are so much alike.

Is there a separate public-only list?

I was about to write something about how TF might be the biggest travesty of the list

I’m pretty unqualified to comment on this list since I’ve only played TPC Craig Ranch, but that place is the most forgettable golf course I’ve ever played. Sad if that’s in the top 50.

HSB is a solid ass resort for the price but there’s no way in hell Slick Rock is a top 50 public course in Texas, yet alone top 30.

No Longer Ranked: The Tribute

For something that is purely an editing job, I think this shows the work that went into this.

I know you know my take on TF, but 37 is criminally low.

very bad takes on that list.

It’s a truly wild ranking. They’ve barely got it as a top 10 metroplex course. Imagine playing all the area privates and putting Royal Oaks ahead of it?

Hey folks that are going to the Colonial in a couple weeks, what’s the parking scene like? I’m driving up from Waco for the Thursday round—is it worth it to get the $75 parking they offer, or can you pay to park somewhere close by?

Personally I think Memorial Park could be slightly higher from playing it multiple times now. Austin Golf Club, Pine Dunes, and Trinity Forest all seem low from what I’ve heard about them.

We’ve always Ubered in the past, but lived in FW at the time. Don’t pay $75/day on Thursday. I would check out the sanctioned lot at Farrington Field for $15-20 which includes a 5-10 minute shuttle to the course

There are tons of pay and park private areas…you will be fine.

Paid parking nearby is tough since they stopped allowing people to park on lawns near the course. I think the best bet is to cruise down simondale and look for a yard. A lot of the yards that allow parking also have a golf cart they’ll run you over on. If you can’t find one then go park at the tom thumb and ride share over. The $75 shuttle is great but pricey.

as in 78 including handicap?

Net 78
So if the person handicap is 10 then an 88 should get them in

This is kind of what I was thinking of. Even going to the Master’s practice round there’s plenty of $20 parking that’s an easy walk to the grounds, so I figured there must be something like that for this. But having never been to the area, I just wasn’t sure what was around there or how big a deal it was.

(Humble brag)

The Farrington Field shuttle has always been my go-to. Pretty quick and stress free.
