I went to an ALCS game in '17 and was at the Altuve buzzer incident walk off in '19…tough scene for this Yankees fan
I was at the Pujols Game 5 ALCS in 2005.
I was at game 5 of 2017 world series. That game cemented my hatred for the cheaters. I’ve watched Kershaw pitch for 12+ years. No one, and I mean no one has ever spit on not some, but ALL breaking pitches. I had no access to the commentary, but there was just something not right, especially with how they abused darvish and morrow as well. That said, I’m glad you felt better after harvey. Y’all needed it
2 things can be true. Aroldis hung that slider. And jose knew it was coming
Oh absolutely! It was a very bad pitch but he was clearly sitting slider (regardless of if he knew it was coming or just guessing)
I think you told me about this last year in SA. I was in fifth grade watching the game with my best friend who is a massive stros fan. That ball was fucking murdered.
Just absolutely hammered. I was in the rafters but directly above home, seemed like the ball was still on its way up when it bonked off the windows or train tracks.
Wasn’t at the game cause it was in St. Louis but I remember throwing my remote through the wall when Freese scored to tie in the bottom 9th in game 6 against the Rangers in 2011.
Man, I HATED st louis and was heartbroken for y’all. Then they went ahead and tormented my dodgers for a while too
I feel like we need a weee bit of elaboration here…were you expecting way more house for the $?
Taxes are relative…its insane how low property tax is in some parts of the country vs. how high it is in some parts…but its a def horse trade as well with income tax as @DuckDuckHook said.
I had tickets to the 2010 World Series game 6 in San Francisco. I was so excited to see the Rangers play in their first WS! I watched game 5 from a bar in SF and the locals let me have it. Game 6 never happened.
Lesson learned. In 2011 I bought tickets to the first home game. That was game 3. The one where Albert Pujols hit three home runs and the Cardinals posted sixteen runs!
If the Rangers ever make it back I’m going to stay home.
Yankee fan here, I was also at the 19 walk off with my cousin who lives in Houston. Tough scene but I will say the good folks of Houston tolerated me in my Yankee gear. Felt like I was 1 of 2 Yankee fans that evening.
I’ve been a huge Astros fan my whole life and went to every single playoff game in 2017 and 2015 including telling my wife she could go home in game 5 before the comeback. I know everyone hate us now but I was also at alot the games in 2010-2014 when we werent even relevant. It’s been a baseball town forever and sucks that everyone now hates us I guess instead of just forgetting about us. Will be interesting to see what happens in Detroit and Boston.
Correia has not helped you guys out either with his attitude towards them getting exposed. And Astros fans in general are some of the finest folks, they gladly took my annoying screaming at game 5 but then gladly gave it right back to me. Had a blast
My issue is with the Astros fans that refuse to admit they are fair weather fans. Just look at attendance numbers and you can see it clearly. Bottom 5 in the league in 2014, bottom half of the league even in 2017, then you jump to top 10 post WS win. I get that you expect some bump from team success but the numbers are very pronounced.
Those were some really dark years when the team was dogshit and winning opening day was our only shot at being in first place at some point in the division. I get what you are saying but not many people are going to show up and spend money for an 100 loss team. I enjoy the games regardless but thats not the regular population. These guys paired with emotionless Brad Mills really get you rock hard:
As a mid-80s Astros Buddy and late 90s/early aughts die hard who has been through three separate bad/good cycles, Astros fans are definitely fair weather. It’s a football town/state. This recent run, especially with Harvey, may cement a more permanent fan base since there’s some real history that doesn’t involve only heartbreak now, and lots of uniqueness to it.
We were just tired of the Cedar Crest crowning. Call it the first intermission.
Y’all are talking too much Houston sports to not confront the fact that you’re going to lose 2 MVP caliber athletes in a span of 6 months.
