A thread for the Texas folks

I have no problem with the fans mostly, they can name old players before this generation of players, the ones that used to get under my skin are the ones who brag about how they cheated and won. They’re like patrick Reed fans, if there are any

Absolutely not (I’m allergic)

But I’ve enjoyed the fruits of Patrick’s labor enough that I can’t be against him

This thread finally stops talking about Dallas golf meetups and this is where you guys take it…

Yes but the premium paid is due to the landscape and culture of the City. I’m not saying I like it, but it be what it be.

Outside of the homeless, and I’ll speak more to the surrounding areas(lakeway, dripping, driftwood etc) this place is wonderful. I’ve loved every bit of the 7 months I’ve lived here

I’d like patrick to eat some rotting fruits and get some real labor if ya know what I’m sayin

Lifelong Astros fan and I have 2 cats

Yes, depends on your field. In what I do (chip design) there are tons of jobs, many many more than Dallas and especially Houston. Salaries aren’t California level yet but are no longer ridiculously lower. I’d guess median salaries are up 50-80% in the last 8 years or so.

Born & raised on the central coast in CA. Moved here about 6 months ago as well. I live toward the Bee Cave area and I’m absolutely loving it! As long as I get my once/month trip to Port A for some surf I’m a happy camper. I don’t ever see myself back in CA… unless someone here wants to go in on a golf/surf commune in the Big Sur area I’ll pack my bags now.

Sick! You definitely lived in a more desirable area than I, bakersfield for me. I’m not far from bee cave and it’s killer compared to my hometown

Since we’re talking Astros, I highly recommend the podcast series, “The Edge: Houston Astros” by Ben Reiter. 8 episodes looking back at what happened before and during the scandal.

Does it defame them in a way that a loathsome hater such as myself will enjoy it?

Rangers fan here. I enjoyed it quite a bit. He’s the author that wrote the book “Astroball: The New Way to Win It All” and had to answer a bunch of “why didn’t you know?!” questions when everything became public.

Nice. I’ll have to check it out then. I really wanted to go to a world series game but couldn’t get the time off work. The stadium looks great

I should check that out, as I enjoyed the book.

I lucked into a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity with the Astros 2019 world series. We had a long-planned reunion of 10 friends from our college days in Houston - homecoming was the weekend after the series. One of the guys has done very well on Wall Street and he surprised us all with game 7 tickets.

I didn’t make it to a World Series game but I did manage to go to one of the 2017 ALCS games and I went to the parade (ran into Slim Thug and was on the news!).

I realize the prevailing sentiment around the country is that the Astros are pure evil but let me tell you, after Harvey destroyed half the city a month and a half before that World Series, we really needed that.

This was not a unique experience for a lot of us
