A Second Skirmish at Sandy Burr - 8/14

The ground has begun to thaw here in the Northeast and weary club pros are returning to the offices they snowbirded away from last October to finally return voicemails. As such, I am happy to announce we’ve been in contact with Sandy Burr Country club and they are happy to host us for the Second Skirmish at Sandy Burr.

Where: We triumphantly return to Sandy Burr Country Club in Wayland. They were gracious hosts last year and look forward to working with us again.
When: Sunday, August 14th. Like the real Tour we’re attempting to avoid NFL Sundays and still give the winner ample time to plan their trip to Jax for the NIT. Save the date. To avoid last year’s confusion of cancellations I’m going to hold off and post the sign up sheet when we are a couple months out and people have a better idea of their schedules.
Cost: Haven’t gotten into the weeds with them yet but we should be roughly the same cost as last year.
Charity: Once again, we will be benefitting the Confetti Foundation. We gave them $1,000 in supplies and cash last year and I hope to match the total again this year. Additionally we will be collecting homemade birthday cards. You guys knocked these out of the park last year and I hope to give them another bundle this year.

It’s almost June

Sign-up sheet will be up either the 12th or 13th (depending on how my day goes), after our event at Maplegate. Just a little easier for me to keep track of 1 event at a time.

Might be back east visiting family during this time and would love to join if everything lines up.

Alright gang, signups are live!

We will be heading back to Sandy Burr on Sunday August 14th for a Second Skirmish at Sandy Burr. We have 48 spots available and have been granted 1 NIT qualifier. Add your info to the sheet below to claim your tee time. Just a reminder, you do need to be a Nest member to win the trip to Jacksonville but anyone can come out and play. Cost will be $140 and will include swag bag, golf, cart and lunch. Additionally, we will have prizes for closest to the pin and longest drive. This event again benefits the Confetti Foundation so we will also be collecting homemade birthday cards. This is also our biggest charity fundraiser of the year - last year we were able to give them over $1,000 in supplies and donations and I would like to at least match that total again this year. You can learn more about the charity here. Confetti Foundation Mission — The Confetti Foundation

Looks like there are about 7 spots remaining. If you were thinking of adding yourself to the sheet, now is the time. Also, if you are on the sheet, please Venmo me your entrance fees by August 7th. DM me if you do not have the details.

What’s your Venmo (sorry if I missed this)?

@Tom-Rakauskas if you need it, last four are 0468

I want to start by thanking you for signing up to play in the Second Skirmish at Sandy Burr. Last year’s event was a great success and I am sure this year will be even better. We are about 2 weeks out, so there are a few items I wanted to cover.

I spoke with Ken at Sandy Burr and he confirmed we are going off starting at 10:30. I will do my first attempt at pairings some time next week so please reach out if you have any specific groupings you would like me to set up as well as any preferences for early/later tee times. If we fill the last 6 spots which are still available the last group will be going off at 12:20.

Please confirm your intention to play by Venmoing me with your entry fee by August 7th. My Venmo is @Tom-Rakauskas and the last four of my cell is 0468. If you would prefer another way to pay please reach out to me before August 7th and we will figure something out.

The lunch will be a BBQ. On the menu from the club it lists the following:
Tender BBQ St. Louis Ribs
Marinated Grilled Chicken
Corn on the Cob
Rice Pilaf
Tossed Green Salad
Rolls & Butter
Chocolate Cookies

If anyone has any food allergies please let me know and I will try and find an alternative for you.

For the Quota game I will be calculating handicaps from the white (1 up) tees. If anyone would like to play further up let me know and I will be sure to accommodate that. Also, please make sure your handicaps are accurate as of August 9th.

Lastly, as a reminder this event benefits the Confetti Foundation. Their big item at each birthday party is a box of homemade cards they give every kid they visit, so in addition to the charity donation I would love to again give them some cards to give out. The cards from last year were amazing. Keep in mind there are a couple things when making these cards: do not say “Get Well” or have any type of religious message, no glitter, be positive and funny, sign your first name and hometown. You can see the full list of guidelines and download a template here: Birthday Cards for Hospitalized Children — The Confetti Foundation

I believe that is everything for now. Please reach out with any questions and I will answer them as best I can.

Look forward to seeing you all at Sandy Burr.
