Year Of The Players/Players Distance Irons(YOTPI)

Ya that’s probably a good idea, too! I have no idea how players distance 3 iron vs 3 iron DI compare, though…

Yeah, I’m considering trying it, but I’d love to be able to test it first, but that’s easier said than done. I just remember when I had game improvement irons years ago, I could absolutely launch them

If I go this route, I’m currently considering either the 245 or AI Smoke. Would love a 4i that I can hit a bit higher with less spin since it’s mostly a tee club for me.

Have been thinking about getting new irons once I get a few more reps with the swing to start the year and on a whim decided to hop into Carl’s today and hit the 243s. Now my only concern is which shafts will I get in my eventual set of 243s.

Team 243!

I feel like the refuge has perfect groups for everything lol - I just got fit for the ping i530s and tried the t200 p790s and a bunch of other clubs. The i530s are sweet, I went in wanting titleist to support the NLU boys but those irons had crazy distance but also felt really good and soft off the face. For example I was hitting the t100 165 and the i530 180/185 carry with a 7 iron but it still felt good and if I swing a bit slower I could get it to 175 easy… the p790s and t200s were also really good but the distances weren’t as consistent for me. If you are thinking of the t200 or something like that I would give them a try really awesome club. Looks great too.

I’ve never been a huge TM guy, but their pricing for graphite upgrades is very very enticing. These were actually the 2 models I had in mind.

Man they did a great job with the cb. They look incredible.

I’m intrigued by both. I’m not keen on 6* wedge gaps and therefore might be on Mizuno, so these are enticing.

EDIT: Wathcing some reviews, it seems the new CBs and 770s were designed to actually be blended seamlessly. Wasn’t sure I was going to pull the trigger on new irons this year, but I may have to.

The CBs fuq. Full stop. Great feedback, a bit of a softer feel, not quite Mizuno, but softer than Titleist.

The 770s are quite good, but not as soft as the CBs. To me, someone who has played Mizuno irons for 20 years, the 4-7 irons felt a little clicky, maybe, but the 8 iron that is pictured felt nice.

Good footprints on both, and good flight.

I generally like the way my HMBs perform, but don’t like the way they look, so I have some thinking to do.

I’ve generally never liked TM product, but damn those things look nice. I’ve been considering a combo set to replace my JPX 921’s and these definitely have my attention. TM also seems to have some of the lowest prices for upgrading to graphite.

I’ve been impressed with their recent irons. These are really good, I just need to decide if I want to spend the money when what I have works just fine. If I do buy them, I’ll actually probably end up with the CBs P-8, 770s 7-5, and a 790 4 iron.

Yeah, my JPX’s perform fine and I’ve shot the best rounds of my life with them. I highly doubt I will get much better performance out of any new irons, but they sure look cool. lol

My HMBs look so chunky, and there’s too much offset, but (I don’t have a strokes gained app) I’m hitting 60% of the greens. That’s pretty good as a LCP, I’ll take it, and it’s up from what I was doing. I’m like the komboucha girl right now.

Same. Haha, the 921 forged look good enough, have a stupid consistent flight (none of the Apex nukey boys), and feel pretty good. I’ve shot all but one of my sub 80 rounds with these things and would say that ball striking tends to save me when my tee game goes to hell. Yet I still constantly look at irons. Haha

They’re available on 9/6. I’ve already hit them a couple times. They are quite good.
