I really liked it, especially the back nine but that could very well be a result of my playing better.
Just curious, where are you a member?

Playing there in two weeks. Can’t wait, I love that place
Not sure if they have punched yet, but their greens were the best I’ve ever seen for March 2 when we played the Farmers Cup there! Should be getting green here soon too!
Club of Ironwood in Staunton
Good to hear about the rental set, I’ve got a trip in April and I was wondering if I could sneak out with a rental set there !!
I literally had to take the plastic off all the woods and wedges. I was almost nervous to use them
Incredible!!
Played there in 2013. Loved the course. Played the front 9 with the wind and played great (for a mid-capper on a course I’d never seen). and then turned into the wind coming back. And stopped keeping score. Wind was no joke.
This was also the time I took the cab back to my hotel and got out of the cab and did the check for wallet, phone, etc. Wasn’t finding a phone and watched the cabbie drive off in the distance.
And then his brake lights came on. He’d looked in his mirror and saw me patting myself down and had looked to see my phone in the back seat. He turned around and brought it back to me. The luck of the Irish was with me that day.
I played an impromptu afternoon round yesterday at a local Albuquerque muni, Los Altos. It was a pleasant yet unremarkable round until a storm arrived while I was walking to the 17th green:
I chipped on to gimme range and made a quick par on the last while the hail pelted me. Good stuff.
@NationalLinksTRoost someone send this to Blue Mash Jeff
Squire Creek in Choudrant, LA (outside Ruston)
Easily the best course in Louisiana, designed by Fazio during his prime. Not a flat lie or a bad hole on the course. Just a jewel.
Chilly day out at the club today here in central Illinois. But sneaking out for Friday golf always makes it a beautiful day.
Got to play Twisted Dune in EHT, NJ. Had some crazy wind and weather to cap off a pretty great link’s experience that’s really close to my house!
Day 2 of our trip was Maggie Valley outside of Asheville, NC. What a backdrop for a golf course. This was my first mountain golf experience and it did not disappoint. Played my best round of the trip shooting 80 from the back tees. Had a putt for 79 that lipped out on 18.
Day 3 was at Oak Hills in Columbia, SC. This was a fun but tough layout that I could play every day. Conditioning was a little meh but you could tell they have been doing quite a bit of work. Forgot to take pictures today because I was so focused on getting the “sweep” of beating my brother. He ended up getting me by 1 today but I took the series beating him 2 out of 3 rounds.
Home track, Valley Of The Eagles in Elyria, OH starting to take shape early in the season. Soft conditions today due to some heavy rain the last couple weeks.
I’ve been itching to get down there and play it. Not that bad of a drive for a Detroiter.
Definitely worth a trip and making a weekend of some of the other golf in the area.
I forget the name but there’s another one that’s supposed to be really challenging with a very tough opening hole if I remember correctly.
Dang that is like 15 minutes from my dad’s place.
