Well said! Had an awesome time for a good cause taking in my first round at East Potomac. Felt like Blockie when I heard we won 2nd place on my drive home, great playing with Crum, Phil and Adam. The DC monument sightlines were pretty cool to target. Looking forward to getting back for a full 18.
It’s probably better that none of you were up there with Crum, the booing would’ve been much less enthusiastic.
Work buddy and I took a chance and snagged a tee time at Tobacco Road the day after we received 3 inches of rain. Drained well all things considered. Remains one of my favorite courses to play. Some day I will play the back 9 well…
Got the absolute pleasure of playing Chambers Bay for the first time today! All that I can say is that it didn’t disappoint! Absolutely amazing course (other than the 8th hole….after seeing what happened to my playing partners, that hill left of the green is ass) that blew me away! I hate to say this, but I believe Lahinch may now be runner up in my favorite courses that I’ve played! Thank you to @Hellyeahdude, @Teph, and @fishtopher18 for showing me around! I don’t know Colby’s refuge handles, but the PNW boys showed me some amazing hospitality!
It was a pleasure! Always love sharing my favorite local course.
@fishtopher18 Give this man a reply.
Had a blast
Enjoyed it out there with you my man
Bummed to have missed this, hopefully can get in next year!
My parents and I played 9 at the Grove Park Inn this morning. Mom turned 70 this month, so this was my birthday gift to her. The Grove Park isn’t exactly beloved around here, but I really like it. It’s fun, open, and the back nine has some great views. It’s a classic Donnie.
Shot of the day was on 17. It’s a short par 3. 101 from the front tees. Mom hit driver and it rolled up to about 3 feet. Sadly, she didn’t cash in. The turkeys were the only birds to be found.
HBD Momma bigdessertguy
I’ve only played it once but really enjoyed it. I thought it was a lot of fun.
Played the Walker Course at Clemson while visiting my Mom. Great course for only 35 dollars
Tiger paw signature hole gave me a laugh
I like the way this hole looks.
Very tough Par 3 the pin was on the back shelf that I could not bring myself to hit it back there
The price tag turns a lot of people off. I’ll admit, it’s a bit steep: usually over $100 for 18.
Membership, however, is pretty reasonable for the area. We’ve looked at some literature.
No golf till at least Jan 8. Brutal.
Played Lofoten Links this morning.
(on Trackman)
This time of year I don’t think Lofoten is expecting a morning for a few more months
Don’t want to derail this thread, but Cal club really spent a lot of time marketing and positioning itself with course raters post the Kyle Philips redesign. It’s a good course, but I think it gets a little too much hype.
For example, I think Menlo country club, another Kyle Philips redesign, a little bit further south, is an incredible routing and awesome modern take on golden age architecture. The club likes to stay under the radar so doesn’t get talked about a lot. I’ve been lucky to play it twice, and highly recommended it.
In my view, from hole 9 onwards, other than the par 3 11th??, it’s all bangers at SFGC.
Haven’t played the new Lake Merced course and need to get on there. Have heard great things about it.
So yeah, lots of great courses in the area.
I would agree with you, the back 9 is amazing, but the front 9 is even better!
