CCB looks so sick. Is it regarded as the best in town? I’d heard good things about Niagara Falls CC as well.

As far as i know yes it’s a top 3 in Buffalo. Have played NFCC also it was nice but didn’t have as much character with the hills and green complex.

Mid Pines and Pine Needles yesterday

I love that place. Played those two courses and stayed at Pine Needles for the first time two years ago. Mid Pines is my favorite of the two but love both. Gotta get back there soon.

Pine Needles had better conditions between the two but for lack of better term, Mid Pines had more charm/character. It would be tough to choose one over the other

Had time for one round in Scotland during my family trip. Nairn was perfect. Wife got kicked out of the grill at lunch, but my rain pants were classy enough to cover up her tacky American denim haha.

Almost aced the 15th…thank the lords of Scottish golf I made the eagle putt

Greywalls GC
Marquette, MI
Designed by Mike Devries

Greywalls and grey skies couldn’t ruin a round at this place. Feels like you are playing through mini gorges and over mini mountains. Would have loved a sherpa for the front 9 which was wild. Trust your lines off the tee and hope for good ricochets if you miss. The back 9 is mild in relation but filled with solid golf holes. They probably should switch the 9s to finish with the more bold features once you’re grooved into the round. I know the guys were iffy on it and I can see why. To finish a big trip here would be rough.

Made my first stop at the cult classic
Sweetens yesterday.

Closed out the trip with the most difficult course I’ve played, Pinehurst No. 2.

We played in the afternoon following the completion of the championship match in the North and South Amateur. Just about every pin was tucked in some absolutely brutal locations.

1500 miles and 90 holes of golf over the last 80 hours (20 of which were driving)!

Decided early last week to make a return trip to The Prairie Club in the middle of nowhere sandhills of Nebraska. I played it almost exactly 3 years ago on a big road trip and had been itching to get back ever since.

For those not familiar, there are two courses and they rotate each day on which one is open to the public and which one is members only. Your green fees include free replay(s). I stuck with 36 each day but you can easily get in more if you want.

Day 1 was The Dunes course - big, bold course with huge fairways/greens and massive blowout dunes. Really just a blast to play.

Pictured is Hole 18 at about 8:30 PM

Day 2 was 36 holes at The Pines Course which is more restrained in scale than Dunes but also more varied environment wise (about half the holes get into the forested area close to the canyon that borders the course. I took 0 pictures at Pines so here’s a pic of hole 9 from their website

Day 3 was originally supposed to be a quick morning round at the 10 hole course in the town of Valentine that I hadn’t played on my first go round.

However…repping some NLU gear on Saturday lead to a fortuitous encounter with fellow refugee @naters and the (very) gracious invitation to play Caprock Ranch on Monday morning.

Caprock is a Gil Hanse design next door to the Prairie Club and it could be described as both incorporating and improving on a combo of the two courses at it’s neighbor.

Similar to Sheep Ranch, about half of the greens sit on or very close to the rim of the Snake River Canyon and they are provocative (in the best sense!)

I didn’t take many pics because I was having a great time but @naters grabbed some great candids:

Finally a selfie on the 18th to finish off a fantastic round (and whirlwind weekend) before I got in the car and drove the 10 hours back home
