Loved Twin Warriors! Beautiful course and very difficult when the wind is up.

It was beautiful for sure. Is your photo is from there or is that Santa Ana? I need to learn to separate my opinion of a course from how good or bad I played it haha, but man the back 9 it was gusting especially when exposed up on the mesas.
My pic is from Twin Warriors! Good catch!! That’s the Sandias in the background.
Twin Warriors is solid! I caddied in the PGA professional (and was paired with America’s sweetheart before he was the first 2 rounds) It’s a bitch of a walk, but a sweet course. Definitely better than the 2 nines we played at Santa Ana.
Black Mesa in Santa Fe is pretty special, too. Though their clubhouse is a bit lacking.
That’s right! Glad you enjoyed it. I cannot imagine walking that course though, I don’t even think they give the public the option.
How did they handle the desert area that week? Guy I played with was saying something about free relief in places due to protected native land or something, wasn’t sure if that was a myth or not lol.
There were some spots that were marked as a protected/environmental site, but not all of it was!
Went on honeymoon to Iceland and have an angel of a wife who let me play a quick round at Brautarholt. It’s indescribable. Might be the coolest setting I’ve ever played golf in, and I’ve been to bandon. The golf course itself is quirky and legitimately very hard, but you truly don’t care how many balls you lose. Holes 1-5 I’ll never, ever forget.
Obligatory pics:
Hole 1-maybe the most insane hole I’ve ever played.
Hole 2
3
4
And 5, a 250 yard par 3 over the ocean.
Randoms of 6-12
Played with a few locals who were having a hell of a time. Only words I understood were “shit” and “fuck golf”
Iceland just soared up my golf destination bucket list to the top 5
Not sure exactly what you mean - What are you looking for? Just more details?
I would take a blow by blow account, just a general feeling of the place, highlights of things you liked, whatever you’d like to write up if you have time and energy for it.
Played Northwood a couple months back in the redwoods in CA. One of my favorite pictures I have snapped on a course.
Wawashkamo this morning. Played hickories hitting cups and shot a 40 I am very happy about. Taxi wouldnt take me before 8am so I had to hoof it. 6.75 miles up, around and back according to watch. But what a peaceful pleasant walk.
I didn’t take any pictures but I met a buddy here in New Buffalo and played the Woodlands course at Whittaker. Looked like a tight piece of property and it was on the front 9 yet somehow I shot a 42 there and didn’t lose a ball. Opened birdie, par (with a just missed birdie putt) and he accuses me of sand bagging. Ha! Back 9 was much more open but I was a bit less focused and shot a 47 and lost two balls on the more open 9. Oh well, had some real nice shots at scoring was 3 yards right of being on in two on a par 5, then 3 putted after my chip to get on.
Found some more pics from a CA trip I did with my girlfriend back in March. Went from San Francisco down the coast to LA. Played; Cal Club, Northwood, Pasa, Pebble Par 3, Pacific Grove (shout out to TC for the recommendation), Riviera, & Vista Valencia
Cal Club
Pasa
Pacific Grove
Riviera #9
Riviera #10
Since it looks like it’s acceptable to post photos not actually from this week and I joined today, I’ll post a few photos from the long UK Bank holiday weekend at the end of May where 4 of us went to play all 3 Rosapenna golf courses.
We got fairly lucky weather wise, with a full 2 holes of rain over 63 holes, it wasn’t hot but it was also not very windy, with a 1-2 club wind most of the time.
Note: The yellow hat was for whoever had the last 3 putts, I had it on for a while in round 2 / St Patrick’s.
Hard to tell now which one is from which course, but I thought St Patricks was the strongest of the three, whereas the other 3 of the group were mixed and didn’t think it should be ranked this high this quickly (they also had more links experience having played TOC, RCD, Dornoch, Ballybunion etc…)
We’ll take photos of Irish golf anytime
