Western Union Communion - RACDG Norcal vs Rocky Mtn. Rohlers (4/7/23)

Man … I lived not very far from there a million years ago. Don’t think this existed then but I might have to make an emergency trip there next time I’m down that way.

Yeah that’s an all-Norcal all-star lineup. Sheeesh.

@RockyMountain is there any issue with these green fees? Think the two we are deciding between are HMB and Presidio for Friday

(Fri) Presidio - $95
(Fri) Half Moon Bay -$200
(Sat) Pacific Grove - $75
(Sat) Poppy Hills - $120 with accompanying member
(Sun) Pasatiempo - who cares, we’re playing

This looks promising, not finding any mansions available, will any locals be needing lodging as well?

Why rent when you can buy?

I saw several nice places available along the 17 Mile Drive last week.

after consulting with my people, we’ve decided Presidio is the play for Friday, special thanks to the NorCal guys for all the insider info to make this a great weekend. Here are the final details:

  • Grab first flight from DEN > SFO Friday morning
  • Play Presidio Friday around 1pm
  • Drive to Santa Cruz Friday night
  • Play Pacific Grove and Poppy Hills on Saturday
  • Drive back to Santa Cruz Saturday night
  • Play Pasa Sunday, fly out of SJ that night

Thinking of getting ahead of tee times, are we thinking we will need blocks of 4 tee times?

I would like to get in on these festivities, if there is room for me!

Let’s goooo

absolutely! the hope was to have a cross-roost weekend, make some new friends, gamble some clams etc. Looks like Santa Cruz has plenty of places available, I couldn’t find a house that sleeps more than 8 so we might need to lock down two spots, or just go the hotel route.

a lot of bay area folks would probably skip the hotel (at least i would if i’m joining), but maybe a few with longer drives wouldn’t

I’m sending out the sign up sheet for us tonight, might want to start a local one as well so we can get a number and start booking the times

So anyone got an Ipad with cell service that we can stream the masters on while playing? Shit I’d probably get one just for this hahaha

Hey there - not sure if anyone cares, but that Sunday when you are planning on playing Pasatiempo is Easter Sunday. That might mess with some folks plans, so you might want to get ahead of that before committing too much? I’ve made similar mistakes in golf trip planning before.

Gotta play pacific grove second. Sunset, golden hour, things of that nature

@RACDGNorCal per the above nonsense in this thread, our brethren from Colorado will be coming out the weekend of April 7-9, 2023 for some medicinal seaside air.

Let’s get a preliminary signup interest list going.

The next best weekend looks to be march 23-26, the Easter Sunday call out is worth noting. What do we think?

we’re still yet to set out date for chunks at the chuck (our NIT event) but it’s likely to be some time in mid/late march. i’d err on side of april. BUT give me a few days and I should have ideas for dates for our NIT.

also, my only other point of discussion is that poppy hills is…QUITE a walk. doing 36 with poppy is gonna be adventurous.

I think - and know I’ll get push back on this - that riding at Poppy and walking at Pacific Grove is a perfectly fine compromise. PH is indeed a serious walk.

While I agree that conservation of energy is key for this endeavor, there isn’t a TON of elevation change at Poppy, and PG is a totally casual stroll
