TrapDraw: Garden State

Left Essex County for Jupiter after most of my adult life. Lived in all the Caldwells Glen ridge and Montclair so much good golf up there. I am a member at Montclair and love there but also Essex County upper Montclair canoe brook etc etc.

Yeah, I know that KROQ really helped launch them (KROQ was just slightly bigger than lil’ ol’ WHTG).

I have a few years on lots of people, but I definitely don’t act my age. Red Bank Regional class of '89. Go Bucs.

I’m old enough to have made the transition from the Kevin Seal/Dave Kendall 120 Minutes to the Matt Pinfield 120 Minutes. Love to see a Jersey boy make good!

The description of @ChickPhilA as the cool older kid in high school is 100% spot on

@ChickPhilA That was a fun listen! I’ve been to NJ once for 2 days so it was fun to hear basically all new information about the state!

Hi all, fairly new here and first time ever commenting, but wanted to say I loved this episode of the Trap Draw. New Jersey hold a special place in my heart. I’m born and raised in Kansas and now live in KC, but my mom is from NJ and as a kid I spent a lot of my summers there with my grandparents and still have family there. My dad was stationed at McGuire AFB and met my mom through a mutual friend.
My golf life began there too as my Aunt (by marriage) and her family were owners of the Cream Ridge Golf Club in Cream Ridge, NJ. And that’s where I learned the game and spent many hours of those summer visits playing and hitting balls at the range.

Just loved hearing you all talk about the Pork Roll debate, the various beachside towns (have fond memories of Seaside, well before the Jersey Shore days) and walking the boardwalk. Remember many trips to ShopRite.

Anyway, just thought it was great, so thank you. I couldn’t stop smiling when while listening.

I grew up in Livingston and didn’t realize this was even a debate until I got to Rutgers.

The whole kleenex vs facial tissue thing seems like a waste of time for me.

The real debate (and I think @ChickPhilA explained this perfectly) is with people who don’t think central Jersey exists. These people are sick individuals.

I grew up being taught there’s north jersey, south Jersey, and the shore. Anything south of Newark was south Jersey, and then you had the shore, which didn’t count as south Jersey.

This is oversimplifying it but if you don’t get Phillies or Eagles games on local cable you’re not in south Jersey.

If you get Phils/Eagles and Yankees/Giants/Jets you’re in central.

Was driving by the Royersford exit of 422 at the moment @ChickPhilA said that was where she was born. Weird coincidence.

Great Pod, always fun to hear someone you’ve met on here talk about things you’re familiar with.

Great to hear the famous @ChickPhilA laugh again! Can’t help but feel happy and energized after that!

It brought back great memories of the Steeplechase where @MrChickPhilA and I could hear it across holes at Jeffersonville.

Great pod Casey! Jon is up for next Jersey pod then right?

Cream Rinse! I forget which high school we used to play there.

I loved the description of the overlapping diamonds. To be fair, most of us from Central Jersey just didn’t want to be associated with either North Jersey or South Jersey.

I want it on the record that my first ever concert that I can remember going to was Bon Jovi opening the Prudential Center with My Chemical Romance.

I distinctly remember a group of guys in my section who were clearly there for MCR who got up and left the second Bon Jovi hit the stage.
